I think all races get new classes besides Draenei.

Undead Hunters should be fun.

Although the first thing I'm making is a Goblin Shaman. :D

EDIT: And Troll Druids?? Awesome.

Looking forward to Blood Elf Warriors.

Yeah theres really nothing you could add to Draenei, Warlock? nah there kind peaceful hippies, Rogue? no, there find it un-honorable. Druid? maybe but I don' think they've been on the planet long enough to be in toch with it's nature
Right now I got a few Alliance and a few Horde toons but was thinking about just going all alliance but the goblins just seem too cool. I'll probably make a goblin warrior or priest.
Night Elf mages sounds awesome to me.

Shamans are in touch with Azeroth, Druids wouldn't be too far of a leap, but the Allies already have the Worgen Druids, so another race would un-balance the factions.

Lol @ Draenei Rogue. Can you imagine one of those barrel chested guys trying to sneak around? It wouldn't be pretty. Everytime I see a draenei male I imagine them saying 'hut hut hut' each step they take. They look like football players with pads on.

-Do you have to reroll for the Human Ranger or is it a "pay-to-play" type of deal?
As I understand it, the expansions will still be required for stuff like DK's and the BC/Cata races, but all the new classes will be available to all players, just like the other revamps to Azeroth.

-Whats the special enchanter pet?
I think it's http://www.wulfsblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/celestialdragon.png. Looks pretty cool IMO.

I'm so close to "What a long, strange trip it's been" I think I only have "School of Hard Knocks" and the friggin candy valentines thing to do...both of which are eons away before they start again.
Gratz! That comes with a mount too doesn't it? Even if it doesn't, that's a hell of an achievement! :goodjob:

A world event right now is probably a little early, since they did the same 24 maintence a few weeks ago on a different batch of servers and no events happened, they will probably announce an actual release date during Blizzcon (if I had to guess I'd say first week of November). This world event should be an excellent one though.
Cool, I was hoping it'd be announced. Once they've done the maintenance on all the servers, it wouldn't surprise me if things started to happen before the release is announced, like more earthquakes or whatever.

I'm actually surprised that there'd be no fee to learn flying in Azeroth.

Yeah 24 hour maintenance svcks. Anyways a couple of questions for the Cata testers here:

-You were mentioning the mount speed increase upgrade (280-310% @ 5k gold), does this negate the effect of crusader's aura?

-Is there a cost for Eastern Kingdoms/Kalimdor flying? And if so, how much is it?

-Do you have to reroll for the Human Ranger or is it a "pay-to-play" type of deal?

-How exactly is archeology working out?

-Whats the special enchanter pet?

-No, it will not. It's simply a bonus to flight speed that you can choose to buy.

-No.

-Don't really understand what you mean, but the human hunter is simply a new class/race combination. Since class change isn't possible and never will be, you have to make a new character to play a human hunter.

-Don't know, as far as I'm aware it hasn't been implemented yet. And with path of the titans being cut I'm not sure how it'll work.

You guys reckon I make it from 46 to 80 before Cata comes out? I'm a pretty slow leveller I think.

I already have an 80 Belf Pally and an 80 Gnome Mage but I fancy making the hunter my "main" character in the future, I'm quite enjoying it. Just working through Feralas now, ran out of quests in Tanaris and got sick of Maraudon in the randoms. Not sure where I'll go next, it's been so long since I last did this. On the bright side, levelling is fresher than end game content for me now, for once I don't feel like I'm racing to 80. :)

Most likely. Just er...wel you're a hunter so no instant dungeon queues. Just stay in the dungeon queue while questing, take it every time one comes up. Once you get to outland you should knows it's much faster.

Also cata won't be out until like November.

I got from 40 to 71 in under 2 months, and this is my main character, so no funding from an 80 alt, or BoA items. I play at a slow pace too, and I have multiple alts I mess around on.

There's quite a bit in Hinterlands too, and by 50 you'll be able to farm stuff in Jintha'Alor for some extra cash.

After that, there's the Plaguelands (probably should get one more look before it's all changed), Felwood >Winterspring, and Un'Goro >Silithus. There's also Burning Stepps and Searing Gorge, with BRD coming up real soon.

Totally agree with being sick of Mara -- on my troll mage, I finally stopped doing randoms just so I could pick any dungeon other than that one. However, looking back, at least people still had some clue as to what to do in there. BRD and DM East can be pure torture, especially DM because that's when you'll start to see DK tanks who have no business tanking yet <_< I haven't attempted Scholo or Strat yet, not sure I want to.

Yeah dude, my lock is 79 and I just started him basically. 5 days played total on him when I do /played. That's pretty decent time. I have heirlooms, however, so that makes it faster, but you should definitely be able to level 2 toons from 1 to 80 in the time Cata comes out. It's still months away.

I have terrible memories of Un'Goro as a Ret Paladin during BC, when we were the most useless sack of [censored] in the entire game, be it PvP or PvE. The downtime in such a busy zone was horrendous :(. I have crazily fond memories of WPL though, AoE grinding those mobs in the Graveyard as Prot with my good old Shield Spike, those were the days. Don't get me started on the pain involved in my Pally mount quest, sweet Jesus...

EDIT: Yeh Betrayer, I have the Heirlooms. Shoulders, Chest and Bow.

lol first time I hit those places was on a hunter, and they were just kinda meh. But when I went to WPL with my pally, holy [censored] did the leveling pick up! My mages have been AoE grinding in Felwood a lot, but again, it was slower on my hunter.

Draenei would find a way to be rogues, knowing their bodies would allow them to be stealthy if they tried- besides, there are Protoss rogues such as http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100717001232/starcraft/images/2/21/Zeratul_SC2_Story1.jpg

Edit: Well there you are right, he does not have hooves, but Protoss are about the same size/height as a Draenei. Aside from that, you are correct- the only reason Draenei can't be rogues is because of the whole crappy "honor" thing... :P

Zeratul doesn't have hoofs, btw the rogue thing isn't a class for Draenei because they don't accept it.

Spacecows being rogues would be just about as silly as a Tauren being a rogue. Just not plausible.

Just saw that special edition on Joystiq..Man 40 bucks extra, I'll probably pre order it and then wait to see if I can afford it by the release date.

What did the BC and WotLK CEs have in them?

The odd thing here is there are plenty of Broken Rogues, which are basically Draenei cousins, haven't actually checked if they have hooves though.

@Urge, Drew: okay I should have been a bit more specific but there was alot of talk of a "pay to get the ranger 111!" that was going around a few weeks back that had me curious

Thats the enchantment pet? A celestial reskinned 2008 Olympic Dragon pet with a nifty hood? Anticlimatic.

@ Drew specifically: thanks. The events are pretty hair-pull worthy, and I don't really care about yet another proto-drake, but the achievement in and of itself has been worth the hassle and I'll be glad to have it over and done with (been on it since Wrath hit)

I might as well give you a charactor to add to the list so go ahead and put Fiqa from Feathermoon up, I just recently started to give Shamans (Enhance specifically) a good shake, since this toon has been sitting around since BC came out

And yes you can definitely go from 1-80 before Cata releases, you just have to mix it up between Dungeons and BG's (alot of people dont PvP but the exp you can get from winning one on some brackets can level you then and there)...the toon I listed above was level 29 two weeks ago and is sitting at 65 currently (you can easily get 6+ levels in Hellfire alone) and I haven't even delved into the super easy Zangarmarsh quests yet. But thats me, and your results may vary.

I'd love to play a male Draenei but I can't because of those legs...and the back-peddling animation. Seriously the top half looks great but the animations make me feel like I'm playing a camp ballet dancer with a serious addiction to steroids.

Are any of the races having their appearance altered or updated for Cata?

Blizzard has commented on the need to update their vanilla models for the races, but said they don't know when it'll happen, as it takes a lot of time to update models like that, considering the different faces for all races would have to be changed, including hair styles, and that would definitely take some time. Time that they don't have to spare right now with Cata coming out.
