Unofficial World of Warcraft Discussion Thread #9

I stared a female blood elf death knight a couple weeks ago, and I'm loving it so far. I've specced Frost, and I kill things a lot more efficiently than my warlock; maybe I just prefer melee classes and didn't know since they bore me enough to quit before level 30 but DKs start at 55.

DK tanks still piss me off, I'm pure DPS and I think DKs just select the tank role for insta-queue.

I did ICC with a DK friend who tanked along with me, we got to Sindragosa without any real tanking trouble (That was not my fault that is, I was tired and didn't focus :P ) so I've got no issue with DK tanks, they can tank just as well as any other class honestly if they do it right.

Well I haven't done raids yet, but in dungeons I haven't met a DK tank who could hold aggro as well as a warrior/etc.

Well, DK's have a bad rep and there is a reason for it. But still, a DK tank that plays right can do just as well as any other tank.

I didn't like DK tanks for the longest time.

Then... I saw one tank H-UK. "What? Just UK" you say? Let me explain.

This nelf DK had like 42k health, and she was overpulling with the healer a mile away and SURVIVING.
Best DK I have -ever- seen, hanged my opinion of them completely. It was amazing.

In later levels, yeah, DKs can tank as well as the other classes when done right. But not until they actually GET their tanking abilities. I've ended up in DM with several DKs who apparently thought "woo, instant queue," and it never went well. One guy hadn't even spent any talent points yet

There was one run however when the tank ditched after a fight, and the DK stepped in until we could get another tank. We went slow because he knew his capabilities were limited, and ended up finishing the run just fine with the four of us.

I haven't been online for a few days because my net is really [censored]ting on me right now for some reason, I have no clue why, but it's just insanely slow even though it's bright and sunny outside, so the satellite shouldn't have any trouble. I dunno.
If anyone has new characters to add to the OP please post them again here, preferably in the format that I could just copy/paste because I'm pretty busy right now. Thanks. :)

Since I am seriously considering getting back into WoW when Cata comes out or when/if my parents let me join the enlist in the army. I would like ya to add my character to the list if you don't mind. :D I figured it wouldn't hurt even though I don't currently play :P. http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Spinebreaker&cn=Twobbles

The great Huntard migration of '08 can be thanked for that.

Yeah Hunters have a bad rep too, a shame since they're among the most usefull classes in the game. That makes them rather easy to play though, even if they're hard to master the sad truth is that most people play hunters without any real idea of what they're doing.

Well, got my engineering over the outland hump. All Northrend mats from here out so I can actually level as I go and buy the mats easier.

Had a discussion about how stupid Gear Score is with my guild master in the guild chat. Turned into me telling him that when cata comes people are going to be replacing their ICC 10/25 items with greens and blues. He said there was no way, all the ICC and end game stuff will be higher item level and take players all the way to 85 without need to upgrade. Told him he was foolish, the level 81 greens and blues are item level 300 which is better then ICC 25 heroic. I said there would be no reason for blizzard to even bother making quest rewards and greens and blue for cata if every player was going to skip all the gear until 85. After I showed him some level 81 greens he just got quiet and kinda said a few more things like Blizzard is going to lose players because ICC gear will be obsolete and he can't believe it and all. Either way I won.

How can he not believe this? It's been like that every time an expansion has come out, does he just have a terrible memory or is he delusional? :P I really don't see the problem, getting new equipment is a huge part of this game, and in my opinion it's fun. Doesn't matter to me if the gear is green or purple, the stats are what matter honestly, and I enjoy finding new stuff. Besides, the stuff I've tried in the beta has been far, far more entertaining than ICC.

Well in his defense apparently people used tier 3 until kara cause there was nothing better and most people used their T6 and end game BC gear until naxx. I just call those people bad..I hated when I did a raid or heroic and someone in there was clinging to their level 70 end game gear. I definitely found better pieces as I went to replace gear on my lock.

True, but at the very least he must remember what happened in Northrend, this is a tradtition at this point. Besides, why would I want to keep my tier 10 gear forever? I get tired of looking at the same equipment all the time, I want new cool loot. Then once I look like a clown with lower fashion sense than your average clown, I'm motivated to get a cool set again :P

Thing is there was better gear between kara and t3 same with Northrend.

Lol, stupid people are stupid. Of coarse expansion quest blues are going to be better than end game epics, that's the entire point of an expansion, to progress and go forward. And regarding gearscore, lawl. I grouped with a hunter with a 5.8k GS a when I was on my Warlock, 2 days after hitting 80, I beat him in DPS every boss. Yeah, gearscore means something.

Also, I just quit WoW.
Nothing I can do really. I can surf the web just fine, but my latency is just to that point where playing WoW is impossible. I can't do it. Really pisses me off to, considering how I've played for the last 2 months with bearable latency, and now all of the sudden I log on and it's like 'LOL SUP BRO 18K LATENCY". I've no explanation.

I've called my ISP, and they have no explanation. I can't get any other service. I live in a new neighborhood in the middle of butt [censored] no where in Tennessee, and satellite internet is the only option. There is only 1 provider for that here too, which is who I use.
