Unofficial World of Warcraft Discussion Thread #9

I've called my ISP, and they have no explanation. I can't get any other service. I live in a new neighborhood in the middle of butt [censored] no where in Tennessee, and satellite internet is the only option. There is only 1 provider for that here too, which is who I use.

Look on the bright side, you could pretend alligators are crocolisks and hunt them in the hopes of finding a pair of new pants in their stomachs.

You use a satellite connection right? Maybe it's some kind of solar activity. Not exactly sure but I think I read somewhere once solar flares happen around this time of the year.

Hahaha. I could get an old man to give me random quest to kill farm animals in hopes of finding leather scraps on them. Then he'd give me a quest to collect 2 Buzzard Eye Balls, only to find that one in every five Buzzards drop eyes. :(

What's the point of doing a Ready check if you're just gonna ignore everyone anyway?

:swear:

Anyhoo, I finally got to do UBRS last night. Glad that's over with, I'm really sick of Blackrock Mountain :yuck:

And my troll mage is 59, should hit 60 this week. Reason I'm so stoked about it is because I never thought I'd be able to get a mage past level 10. When I decided to make a mage, I'd heard they were lots of fun later, so 5-20 was mostly me chanting "stick with it, it's supposed to get better." Now that I've actually learned how to play a mage, I can zip through the first levels without any trouble at all.

Now to stop making new mages every five minutes

My hunter should be bound for Northrend this week. He already has the flying tome waiting in his backpack so leveling wont be as bad as my frost mage. Speaking of which he has his 1k gold set aside for whenever he finally gets to level 77. He's 27% through lvl 74. Does have some choice gear though for hardly ever being played. Guess that's what happens when you only run a dungeon every 2 days. Maybe I'll do some pvp to break up the tedium.

I quit.

Man the game is filled with [censored]s.

Tried to find one single decent person to give my gold to before I left and couldn't. Sad. Finally just gave it to some random guy - didn't even say thank you.

I'm going to try LotRO again. Can't figure out which class to focus on, though.

I think there are two ways to avoid a ragequit in WoW. First is to treat it almost like a single player game. Leave the world channels, don't pug, quest solo. Now and then you might get one of those idiots who spams you with duel requests and stuff like that but for the most part you'll avoid them. Second is to start your own guild and be ruthless about who is in or out. Have a zero-tolerance policy towards any douchebaggery.

Luckily my Horde main is in quite a mature guild with people who are capable of rational thought and forming sentences without using the word 'noob' or excessive leetspeak.

I'm not really rage quitting. My subscription ends today and I hadn't planned on renewing it.

I'm more ranting about the state of the game. It used to be so much better.

My server is fine in that regard honestly, though I do tend to ignore any douchebags.

Yeah, my first thought was also "server." Of the three I play on, I've meet nicer people on two of them more consistently; the third tends to be a balance between mature and immature players. However, I also know that in years past, there was more of a community feeling, regardless of server. These days it's all about hitting 80 as fast as possible, and maxing gear score. The LFD has had a bad side effect too IMO, making people even more impatient.

Some people may not have responded for fear that you were clearing out someone else's account. I've heard about that happening, an angry ex wreaking havoc with another account, stuff like that. Or maybe a couple people were just afraid you were a hacker  Lotta paranoia floating around these days.

A while back I remember someone going to a starting area and announcing in General that they were leaving, and giving away all their gold and items. They turned it into a minigame, and said the first person under level 20 to find them would get a prize. When they were found, they'd hide somewhere else. I thought that was a fun and clever way to do it :D

Gratz :D I've yet to explore it fully, but been really impressed so far

I wasn't announcing giving anything away ;) I was asking questions and trying to find someone nice enough to answer. I did not - instead I got "new player", "go die", "you svck if you don't know that".

I was simply trying to find someone who would appear to be helpful to someone who had some honest questions. Couldn't find a single one.
