Unofficial World of Warcraft Discussion Thread #12

Well, the Shattering is happening as we speak.

I was in Thunder Bluff just before the server's went down.
Spoiler
Twas much Cairne praising, cheering for Cairne, remembering Cairne in WC3 and saluting him in the name of the Horde before he died. :cold:
(Cata content spoiler)

Looks like tomorrow we'll see what the Shattered Azeroth looks like.

I'm clearing out some low level alts to make room for some fresh new race/class combos. An http://media.mmo-champion.com/images/news/2010/october/season9_hunter.jpg will just look awesome (but not the PvE gear though, ugh).

I parked my druid in one of the turtle skeletons in the shimmering flats, which will apparently be underwater.

From what I understand, people will be teleported to the nearest graveyard when they log in.

Looks like I won't get to play until I get home from work - an extra 2 hours on the maintenance.

Oh really....great. Well I can't get my launcher to work anymore or get their new forums up. I don't know what the deal is.

Gonna fire me up a little Human Hunter. I've always wanted one since my mangy Night Elf male Hunter (first character from 2005) greatly gets on my nerves at times. Also want to try a Gnome Priest.

I really like my Pally, he's only 59, so if you got yours to 65 you might as well level him. What spec is he?

He's ret. Might switch to a Tauren, always wanted a Holy Cow. I'll have to look into the changes they've made for sure.

Go Horde. :whisper:

My guild has an Alliance chapter and a Horde chapter on different servers (both huge - numbering in the hundreds). I've got an 80 Tauren Hunter, plus an 71 Blood Elf Priest and 67 Troll Death Knight I've been working on. Just like Alliance a little better.

So...is anyone else having problems with their launcher or the battle.net website?

Anyone who doesn't have the game or first two expansions yet, they are at the moment 75% off:

I dunno how long this will last though. (probably been posted already)

Hrm, while Thunder Bluff is basically the same, Orgimmar has been changed too much for my liking. Instead of feeling like a "shattered" and rebuilt city, it feels like someplace completely different.

On another note, Gamon is now lvl 85 with something like 1.7m health, currently smashing any groups that try to touch him

And dammit, I paid $50 for WOTLK about a month ago. :swear:

Wait, so the servers are up? I still can't get the WoW site to work or the launcer.

Mine does

Speaking of Orgrimmar still, I've watched a bunch of hilarious attempts by lvl 80s to kill Gamon only to get crushed easily, as well as a number of groups who have managed to kill him using a lot of firepower.

Also, not to beat a dead horse, but how does Deathwing flying over the city result in fortified buildings and a new bank? Also, the new Zepplin tower was a pain to find at first.

Sweet..looks like the Shattering happens on the same day my internet decides to tell me to [censored] myself. I have exhausted every means I know to fix the problem. Called the ISP they will send a technician thursday...thanksgiving...so I get to wait all day for them. No WoW for me..

So you're playing right now in post-apoc Azeroth, with fully functional flying mounts and stuff?

All you're really missing at the moment is chat filled with "ZOMG WHERE GARROSH", "WARE IZ ZEPPLIN!" AND "THIZ IZ GAI SCRW U BLUZZARD"

And no, there are no flying mounts yet. None of the "new" features from Cata like playing as new races, new areas etc have appeared as far as I know. All that happened is that the old world of Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor has changed for Cataclysm with new quests, maps and NPCs.

Pre-Cata Horde players need an "I killed Gamon and survived" T-shirt or something. :ninja:

Heh, I downloaded the patch earlier.... only problem is I don't have a subscription. I'm unsure whether to resub to check out Cata, as my guildmates are busy until the summer.
