Wow, long time since I've popped in here. My Cataclysm upgrade is now complete so the moment it goes live I'm ready to play, also got my Mage Arkania up to 80 today so I'm all set.

Also to clarify:

The shattering has happened yes, the new quests are available, as are the new race/class combos. The Worgen and Goblin are not playable without buying Cataclysm. Any 80+ content is also not available without actually owning the expansions. Everything else is already out there.

As for changing race to Worgen/Goblin. I'm not sure, I've heard different things, some say it's possible to change a character to Worgen/Goblin at launch, some say you need to wait. At any rate, once Cata is live I'll try making Warpants a Worgen (Human now) and report back if it works or not.
