Unofficial World of Warcraft Discussion Thread #12

Is it just me, or does every single tier 11 set look absolutely terrible? The only one who doesn't look completely ridiculous is the mage set, and apart from the hood it's really not very good. What happened here? What are the people designing these armors thinking? The hunter set looks absolutely horrible (Not that I'm surprised, hunter tier 10 looked like [censored] as well) and the Paladin set is so...boring. Granted I haven't seen the light effects on it yet, but the texture work is so dull, the armor seems to be made of rock, and I guess that's the point, but it's so boring to look at.

I haven't seen all of them yet, but the ones I've seen so far are just awful.

I have to politely disagree. I checked out this site ( http://www.wowhead.com/blog=170693 ) and, imo i loved what i saw. Can say I REALLY like where Cata seems to be going.

Also, my Priest IS SO MUCH FUN. Bubbles+big bubble+angel wings= Euphoria. I literally have fun healing where, I used to get a lil bored, its far more interactive too, with smite and the evangelism buffs (archangel :D)

They've run out of ideas for ever more ridiculous looking armor. I keep waiting for shoulders that span the width of your screen and prevent your character from going through a door - I'm sure it'll happen

I agree, much of the tier 11 looks a bit silly. Especially the http://media.mmo-champion.com/images/news/2010/september/tier11_rogue.jpg. I mean, a turban and bright blue glowing shoulders are what every stealth class needs, right?

Oh, and the priest with bowls of soup balancing on his shoulders, what's that about?

Well, I like the Rogue set, it doesn't fit a stealth class, but I like how it looks. That turban would be better suited for a caster though, possibly a mage. The priest set is fine, and the Mage set isn't terrible. The warrior set at least has a better texture than the Paladin set, though to be fair I like the general design of the paladin helmet, even if it is a bit tall.

Ah well, tier 7 didn't look that great in most cases either, tier 11 is the first raid set after all.

Yeah, that cinematic was [censored] epic, that's all I can say. I love Deathwing's voice, fits perfectly.

I levelled enchanting to 108 and tailoring to 200 tonight...it crushed my soul. Only thing cheering me up is that in 6 hours or so New Vegas will be done downloading on Steam...then i just have to wait untill Friday to play it :P

As far as I can tell, fire mages are the only people who are really happy about the patch. :P

Not sure if I want to resub due to hearing all the ret pallys crying. :P

Holy may be a better route now...I need to do more research on the talent changes.

EDIT: Also, were all the gathering professions reset? D:

When do Ret pallies not cry? I only know one Ret pally who doesn't whine his ass off whenever something's changed, and that's because he has many other characters and is pretty much geared in the best gear he can get. Allthough mostly it's because he's an advlt.

No offense to any ret paladins here, but I've only ever known one who didn't complain about everything.

And no, I don't think the gathering profs were reset, I don't know. I'm not sure if the XP for mining and herbalism etc. got put in yet.

XP for herb and mining is in. And professions weren't reset, they're just whacked right now, but Blizz is working on it. Last I read, it might be related to server memory. I've yet to hear when or how it'll get fixed.

The gathering professions on all my toons are gone too, and I've had a hell of a time keeping anything on the temp toons I've made on a trial account -- tonight when I got DC'd and had to relearn skinning and LW for the second time, and said screw it and just deleted the toon. From what I've heard, crafting profs are being stubborn too, and aren't always accessible after logging in. And apparently, prof enchants have been disappearing as well.

I'm really digging feral druid now, for the first time I'm enjoying cat form, but I wish they hadn't removed the class quests. Not too thrilled about having to buy all that training instead.

I'm a ret pally. Well, I was, I'm not playing at the moment.

Why are my comrades complaining? Did they nerf us somehow?

I can't even log in now. As soon as I hit the login button the game freezes and crashes. I did the usual fixes the tech guys want people to do but it's still crashing

Only problems I have is half my graphics options are unavailable, so I can't max out my graphics anymore. Anyone having the same issue?

I've got no issues with graphics except for framerates dropping down to around 40-50 at times, and I'm not sure why. On the Beta servers I ran it maxed out with 60fps at all times. Right now I'm keeping liquid detail at good and the rest at medium levels, except ground clutter which I've always kept at low for performance.

After reading about the prof problems I really hope all my work last night on tailoring and enchanting wasn't for nothing, I spent a good deal of money on it, nothing I can't earn back easily, but still.

I've got a red bar that starts at fair and goes to Ultra on my graphics settings, which doesn't allow me to set it on anything above fair. If I do custom I can only set a handful of things to Ultra, and the rest has to be good or fair, its pretty annoying because I had to problem running WoW at max settings before this patch.

I imagine it's an issue with the new effects, it might get fixed eventually, this patch has it's share of issues. Here's hoping.

What I'd love to see is WoW being able to take advantage of multi core processors, I've got an i7 in my laptop and I'd like to take advantage of it as much as possible. The engine dates back to WC3 though, so that's probably not possible.
On that note, how crazy is it that WoW is running on a heavily modified Warcraft 3 engine? That thing is more than a decade old now, pretty amazing really.
