Notes: I will add links to characters armories later on. Unfortunately I did not see a quote post option in the previous closed thread. So as far as I can tell future threads have to be started before the old one is closed. Otherwise you have to do this all by hand like me. Unless I just couldn't find the option which is likely.

After listening to a guy rant about it at work I broke down and bought some time and the new expansion. Promptly went to Orgrimmar and got lost looking for the flight trainer. Then about an hour later I went to Vashj'ir and had a blast being fish bait. It was funny seeing all the alliance trying to get on the Horde wreckage and get one-shot. So far I'm liking this area. A lot of attention paid to little details it looks like.

I originally planned to start playing again once Cataclysm came out, but now that it's here I don't want to touch it with a ten foot pole. I'm sick of the amount of money you have to spend to play this game and if I did want to play again for Cataclysm, I'd be looking at spending at the very least $80 which is complete crap on top of the hundreds I've already wasted on it. I'm literally trapped on this crappy, unpopulated, noob infested server, that I cannot stand playing on and somehow it's "my fault" and if I want to get off of it I have to shell out $25 for something Runescape could do for free on whim. It's either that, or lose all the time, effort, and money I've put into my characters on current server and start over completely (of which I have 3 I'd like to transfer, but at the minimum I would take 1). $25 dollars to transfer ONE character is ridiculous, but $75 for 3 is just insulting and absurd. To top it off I'd still have to spend $40 for an expansion and another $15 to play for a month. This game feels like a [censored] racket and what Blizzard-Activi$ion has become is utterly disgusting.

Some of the things they've done to WoW do sound interesting, but there is no way I'm going back to this crap again.

The whole game has been revamped. Almost every zone has been redone. I don't think you could go wrong with anything you do. Trolls and Gnomes have there own starting area now. There are two more races (Goblins and Worgen). I was only gone for a little over two months and was blown away by how much Ogrimmar changed.

$15 isn't all that much, and it wasn't the bulk of my argument, though that $15 adds up over time. I've never been too keen on the whole "WoW has more entertainment per hour" thing either. How much fun do you honestly have ALL the time you are playing? Grinding mobs, farming ore, flight paths (not so much now, but still physically flying somewhere), scrolling through the auction house, BG/dungeon queues, waiting for everyone to get to a raid, then wiping, daily rep grinds, and so much more. While WoW and the expansion cost "as much" (only if you bought the Black Friday WoW gift deal, you're spending $90 to get everything otherwise) you still have to spend at least an extra $15 to actually play the game, and you're not going to "finish" it in one month. You're going to end up playing for months, probably even years and that's $15 every month or one new game every 4 months just to keep playing one. You waste so much time in WoW and it's purposely made to take longer than normal to achieve things compared to a regular game, so I don't buy that argument.

Mostly I'm just pissed that I'm stuck spending an extra 25-75 dollars just so I can actually enjoy the game on a decent server. It isn't my fault people have quit playing WoW, and my server got hit. It's not my fault the game is no longer fun to play on it. Blizzard should combine the lower population servers, because it's ridiculous how many empty, one sided, servers are out there.

I wasn't too impressed by the entry-level zones Hyjal and Vash'Jir. The intro sequences for them seem like they're trying to do something cinematic/epic but the whole thing just falls flat due to the limitations of the game engine. Deepholm turned that around though, it's an amazing place and as someone who has played shaman religiously since 2006 I think it's great the class is finally getting some lore attention, and the Earthern Ring is turned into an actual faction.

Also they made Cenarion Emissary Blackhoof in Orgrimmar switch faction to one of the new ones you can't declare war on. I used to kill that guy all the time until I got unfriendly with the cenarion circle. He seems to have forgiven me for my past crimes.

I still haven't picked up my Cataclysm pre-order, and am currently busy playing Pirates of the Burning Sea.

I can't believe I don't even have much desire to play the new expansion. I guess I'm too casual a player (haven't been in a non-VOA raid since May).

Same amount? WoW has literally hundreds of hours worth of stuff to do, and raiding and pvp is so competitive these days that it becomes a game in it's own right. Not to mention all the vastly improved content that came with Cataclysm (Their best expansion yet without a doubt). 15$ a month is a bargain for a game like this. I'd spend more money on a Blu-Ray, that'd keep me entertained for 2 hours or so, maybe more if the movie is great but I still wouldn't watch it a hundred times. So by that logic, WoW gives you far more entertainment for your money.

I went to finish off my explorer requirements for Kalimdor. Only had to do Darnassus again for some reason and most of the Draenei area. On an alliance dominated server a lone horde doing this usually means death but I flew to Darnassus. No one could see me.as I flew in from the top. Tried to fly to Azuremyst and found out its still locked off. You got to take a ship and theres no flying whatsoever. I was kind of bummed about that. Blood Elf area the same way with flying? Haven't been there yet.

I've started an undead mage. I must say, Blizzard have done an awesome job with the new questlines and redesigning the old areas. Leveling is actually fun again, at least for now. I've haven't bought Cata yet, I'll do it when my new toon hits 80.

Cataclysm only offers level 80-85 content, and the new races and professions.
Anyone can see the new zones, as the Shattering completely changed the world of Azeroth forever. You do not have to buy Cataclysm to experience the new 1-60 content, as it's not apart of Cataclysm. It's just the new Azeroth.

Sadly I won't get to rejoin the WoW fun until near christmas, I be broke. Warlocks got nerfed out the ass so I am a little sad though... Thinking of leveling a mage as a way to see the new 1-60 content.

I had done most of it except the Draenei Area but yea thatboat always led to good battles. The new boat doesn't flag you for pvp so isn't as eventful now. Now all I have left to explore is two of the areas in Cataclysm.

I've been thinking of dropping blacksmithing, I've gotten it to 260 and it's been pretty useless to me, I think I got pretty good gear as it is so none of the stuff is of any use to me and I don't have any plate wearing alts on that server. Should I drop it? And what should I pick up?

Blizzard is offering anyone that bought WotLK or BC a free 10 day trial of Cataclysm. Just log onto your account management on Battle.net and you should see it on the right hand side of the page. I will personally be getting the trial later tonight or tomorrow, so I can play the game while I try to figure out how to afford the expansion :biggrin:
