Unofficial World of Warcraft Discussion Thread #14

Post » Mon Nov 01, 2010 7:21 pm

A few weeks ago I cancelled my sub. I've played WoW for 5 years now and I just needed a break, or possibly to stop playing alltogether.

I did the same thing, although I hadn't been playing as long as you. After reading stuff about the latest patch (I just can't keep away, damn you Warcrack! :cryvaultboy: ) I'm glad I don't play it at the moment. Anyway, my laptop that I use to play PC games on is too old and creaky to cope with WoW on anything but low settings.

I really don't see why everyone is whining about the new content in the next patch. It's not like it's the next tier of content. They are just updating old content so we have something MORE to do now while we WAIT for more content.
That seems perfectly acceptable to me. It's not tier 12 content. It's just filler content while they work on the Firelands content.

Also, they are doing it to advance the story. You know, like in real life? Things don't always stay the same forever. Old content becoming new content is just refreshing the storyline, and advancing it. They want to do more with the Gurubashi/Amani Empire, and this is the perfect way to advance that storyline. Instead of just randomly adding new content and places out of the blue (which makes no sense) they update old places. (which makes perfect sense)

I have been playing my rogue lately been leveling him almost only with bg's & mining. Sometimes I will do a quest chain to learn a schematic or a dungeon to try for gear but that's far between.

Some alliance words I believe I have translated for my horde brethren. :D

Danieb = rogue
Uden = help (usually used in /y format)

What do you all think of the Warsong Gulch graveyards being moved? I always had a chuckle at people getting camped there. Even if they were on my team. I'll be sad that won't happen anymore.

To be honest I don't really see why people GY camp. The amount of time it takes to get a considerable amount of HK's via GY camping is minuscule compared to the honor you'd get if you just won the game and Q'd again. Especially with the guild perk that increases honor gained by 10%. It just doesn't really make sense other than to grief people. I guess that's why Blizzard is removing it.
You guys see the new PvP sets for next season on Mmo-Champion.com? Loving the new DK models.

The only problem I have once in a while is when a huntard gy camps from the bottom of the cliff. Los is so bad.

That hunter set looks badass.

The Hunter set does indeed look amazing.
At first I thought the DK set looked pretty baller; upon further inspection, I seem to laugh at it. It's so absurd. It's just like..getting to the point where it's just defying the laws of physics. Look at those horns. o.o

Well. Though I absolutely NEVER thought I would play this game, my friend talked me into it a while back. Ugh. It's just addicting.

Name: Blueasari
Realm: Malygos
Race: Orc
Class: Warlock

Right now in heroic dungeons I'm getting around 7k DPS. Need to get a better rotation as well as better gear. Very time consuming game. :P

For those that haven't seen the new PvP gear for the next season. http://www.mmo-champion.com/content/

Like I said, hunters is just awesome. Warriors, not so much...Could be worse though.

Hunters definitely got the best set this season, it looks badass.

When I see it I immediately picture the bunny from Donnie Darko, am I the only one? :ermm:

The rest I can live without, meh.

IMO warlock's have the easiest time leveling and the hardest rotations to get used to in endgame. If you didn't already check out Elitist Jerks for an idea what rotations and gear to shoot for. Those guys know what they are doing.

That PvP gear for the most part looks underwhelming to me. Except for the hunters and druids. Paladin's helmet actually made me laugh.

I'm looking for a new ui overhaul. Anyone have any recommendations? Preferably one with unit panels on the large side.

I killed the Whale Shark tonight. I also made a little funny video about it, because I was bored, and I wanted to use the Scuba sound effects I found on my computer haha.

It was actually pretty fun, wasn't hard at all, we had 40 people, so he died in like 25 seconds haha.

http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/shadowed-unit-frames.aspx. Very clean look and highly customisable. I always preferred to remove portraits to keep it as clean as possible.

I never bothered with entire UI packs, preferring instead to download individual addons: sixymap, Bartender 4, Quartz casting bar, Shadowed Unit Frames, Recount and Deadly Boss Mods. Set SUF party/player frames to fade out until in combat, keep bags/micromenu/other non-critical spell bars hidden until mouseover, move sixymap to the bottom of the screen.. all that gives you a lot of screen real estate and removes unnecessary clutter.

I solo'd Magtheridon last week for some gold, he drops a whopping 521 gold, so doing that every week is some nice cash. :)
Here's a http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iZDtAA-S8Q of it.

Cheater! I tried to do it solo on my Hunter. Did just over 3 million damage but got too far away and he reset. Haven't tried it since.

Same thing happened to me on my lock. I would dot the whale up and it would reset almost instantly. Then I got too close and it hit me for 567k damage.

Aye, SUF is what I use. I really like it. I've used it for a few months now. I used to use Xperl but I can't stand it now after using SUF. Here's my http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/7314/wowscrnshot030911232151.jpg

Oh, and I just took this really hot screenshot of my drake. So hot. I think we should have a screenshot contest on these forums. :D

Go Shadow priest :)
No idea , just do a random class and you might like it.
I went priest and loved it !
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/dark-iron/mikuria/advanced
My account there.

Also, start professions as soon as you can. To go further in that Alchemy and Herbalism fit well together as your two primary professions. (note you can only have two primary at a time) You also, have minor profession which are fishing , cooking , first aid and I think archeology. Get the battle chest I would recommend great bang for your buck but the guides in their a little outdated. They still say hunters have limited ammo :P

Another link look under beginners guide and races too.

Also, it helps to have some friends playing with you as well so they would give you info. You could join Dark Iron where I am ; ask from help from other members or join their servers or if you have friends outside this forum ask them. Researching what you are doing a little goes a long way. Also, remember LOOT LOOT LOOT! You want to sell almost anything that has no purpose for your character. For example on my priest I have no use for netherweave cloth or any type of cloth in general I have made some 100+ from selling the cloth I have. Also, be careful in early levels not to get more than one enemy to attack you. I can keep on blabbling on and on but I just started almost a month ago and the other people in the thread are at lv 85 and I have 63 for my highest.

A caster class is easy for leveling. Frost mages are a blast and have very good survivability.
