Hello.
Are you going to release an editor (UnrealEd) for Hunted (PC version)?
Best regards,
TobiAlex
If they were smart, which it's been proven they aren't, they would. They should. This game would be so much more if they did. That little Crucible thing is not good enough and they treat the gold you earn as though the reward of using it, is worth it, and it isn't. I want to make dungeons and maps similar to the co-op story mode and I know I easily could because the Unreal Engine is very easy to use, they even teach it at the college by my house. I've made more complex stuff for UT2004 Assault gametype, then this game. There isn't one function or event in Hunted, that I couldn't explain or do, and do better with a version of the Unreal Editor that works for this game. I wish the devs would wake-up and realize people can use these tools, can use Maya (or Max) and can import models in. We aren't as dumb as they think. If this had been like 6-8 years ago we would have got that editor. This is as the devs call it "old school dungeon crawl" yet they cater specifically to the dumbed down console community by making the PC version of the game, adhere to the limited functionality of the consoles and THAT is the big mistake they are making. If it was truly "old school" we'd have an editor like the old days. Give us the version of the editor that works with this game and watch many people do magic. It angers me that they seem to think it's not a good move to release editors for these games. As people get better at using technology to develop games, stupid and maybe amateur developer seem to think they should take away the option to do so. So we are left making mindless crap with Steam's editor for L42, when we could be making some serious content for Hunted, if we had the editor. They are robbing this game of a community of mappers and modders who would love to design their own content for this game.
Funny stuff is this quote - Matt Findley, InXile's President. "In this day of the modern action game, the genre has been forgotten, but we wanted to bring it back." Apparently he doesn't understand we need an editor and various other things. Not a console "level design" tool. The real deal Unreal Editor. Matt clearly doesn't understand. Also his statement about "dumbing things down". It's really hypocritical, but it's still not too late if they do things I said above.
One thing I'd like to add is I'm from Japan, and I love my PS3 but sometimes I wish PS3 and Xbox would completely DIE, so they'd make PC games like they used to. There's nothing "old school" about Hunted, it's just a port of a crap console version. It should be a stand-alone pc game and if it uses the Unreal Engine, it should ALWAYS, ALWAYS have the map editor packaged with the game. I'm sure Batman Arkham City will make the same mistake. They put the hands of add-on content in the hands of Monolith = a team of people who make the worst crap ever... but that's a different story.
