Unsatisfaction about Skyrim

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 9:41 am

I've played for 50 hours and i didn't finish the main quest. I've finished quickly the Mage Guild, and the Thieves Guild and i make a lot of missions, but i'm done. I find the lack of randomness in this game simply embarassing. It's not the world i've expected it to be. Morrowind is just epic. You are in a world, a huge world (i bet no one complete all morrowind's quest and things to do XD). In Oblivion the random feature are just awesome. U can enter in a paint, or u can make some quest like Paranoia (i bet someone will remember that XD). I find this game awesome for the dragons and the graphic, but that's it. If i could play oblivion with this graphic it will be no match for skyrim. I' m really disappointed. It's a linear and sad game if u get what i mean... what do you think?

I am extremely satisfied. I like how Bethesda listen to the major complaints about the previous titles and fix them or adjust features. This is the best one yet (I haven't played Arena or Daggerfall).

Not voting any because as fraking usual it's another extreme choice with no middle ground.

Would I go back to an old TES, no, I enjoy skyrim better than Oblivion.

Well i think you're completely wrong about that. Sure Morrowind was a great game and perhaps with the combat systems and graphics of skyrim it would be playable, but it still wouldn't be much if any better than Skyrim. Skyrim's quests are often full of extra little things that you didn't have in oblivion etc. Sure you could enter a painting in Oblivion but there's plenty of quests in skyrim that pull off cooler things imo.

That's just your opinion against mine really, but i still think that even though i find it normal for people to prefer Morrowind over Skyrim (even though i don't), you really underestimate skyrim a lot. You just seem a bit over sensitive.

I'm completely satisfied with Skyrim. For me personally it's the second-best in the series so far(Morrowind takes first place for me).

Maybe i'm wrong, but i see just a cold linear and sad world in skyrim. Oblivion is like a living being in my opinion!

I agree with this. Skyrim is is great. Thank god it wasn't another Oblivion. I'm having a blast with it.

Regardless of how you feel about Skyrim, I think you REALLY need to think about what linearity means. It isn't in Skyrim.

I'm not satisfied, but it's not about those things you mentioned. Going to mention a few of my gripes with Skyrim.

  • Customization has been limited with the reduction of armor slots.
  • I run at a fixed speed, and jump at a fixed height and there are no skills or perks to change that.
  • No spellmaking makes playing a spellcaster a lot less exciting.
  • I can't jump when sprinting.
  • Lack of information in the quest log makes questing near impossible without the quest marker.
  • The user interface is just horrifyingly bad, especially with mouse and keyboard.

I think some folk need to get out and explore the skyrim world in more detail, I'm on my third character and still discovering new things and places, it goes much deeper than I think some folk realize.

I totally agree with you on the quest log, the journal is appalling, if you're set a quest and come back to it a while later there is nothing to jog your memory? Sometimes you're doing quests you don't even know anything about. I guess purists would argue you should hand write everything in your own personal journal, but I mean that's a bit much.

I'm definitely in the minority in this forum, but I have to say I'm dissatisfied with Skyrim. Lackluster quests and guilds, a plethora of bugs and freezes, and an entirely uninspired/useless magic school (I'm biased, as I play a destruction mage) leave a whole lot to be desired.

Just my opinion, don't get all butthurt.

So someone posts to you a way to find the "randomness" you're looking for, and you ignore it?

This game, like many sequels of 2011, are suffering from the "in name only" disease. Much of the complexity of previous titles was taken out in favor of STREAMLINING, trying to appeal to everyone at once. These companies should know that old addage that when trying to please everyone, you only end up pleasing no one.

The new Deus Ex was like this. They gutted all the RPG elements of the original and turned it into a cover-based first person action game. TES, sadly, seems to be headed down that road as well.
