Im sure they have made something with the Dragons so they won't make the quest NPC dissapear with a dragon.

The dragon bits in the game play video were scripted. They had to control what they were showing as "Hang on while I hunt down a dragon", isn't what Bethesda wants to show people.

Even if they say "unscripted" there will still be some sort of scripting behind their actions. As such, it is possible, and highly likely, they put limitations on the dragons as to who they can and can not pick up as well as some simple and basic conditions for showing up to prevent the player from being dominated in the begining of the game and not throwing too much at the player that they are just like "WTF".

The first dragon in the trailer is an example of good scripting though - ie he is always there perched above the ruins. The second two dragons were likely brought in just for the demo. That doesn't mean their attacks (of course they have a set number of actions they can perform) wouldnt be scripted and normally im guessing their spawns wouldnt be scripted ... but some areas might be more likely to spawn dragons, such as mountain tops or canyons.

Would be nice if the community could have discussions like this in you know the Dragon Discussion Thread :shakehead: Why is everyone so reluctant to post in there? I do all the work compiling info and then someone just makes a new topic and bam... all the posts in here... :banghead:

Bethesda have had a team working on dragons for two years. After looking at the trailer and the demo I think they have nailed it.

AI is a tricky thing and it can be very weird if done wrong. However, because of what I said above, I think it will be fine and... just plain awesome.

Also, NPCs are apparently essential btw <_<

Only sense that is tingling for me is the epic-dragon sense, and it is tingling strongly.

If memory serves me right todd himself said that the dragons in the demo was scripted, I dont see the big deal about it. Would you rather he walked around for 40 minutes trying to find one? It was merely to show off how dragon battles would be.

Stop making moronic threads every time a thought like "Oh there were scripted dragons in the demo, does that mean all dragons in the game will be?!!?!11111111one" fricking use your brain instead of making a thread over every single little concern you have.

I don't mean just you OP, I'm just fed up with all the 14 year olds going batsht crazy over things like perks, blocking, jumping even.. etc. Things that are confirmed or are obviously going to be in the game cause honestly, why on earth would they take it out of the game.

Agreed, the dragons look amazing. I hope they are really tough to defeat, should make for some epic fights.

I do get the appeal of unscripted dragons roaming around like every other animal, and I'm sure it will make dragons feel realistic, but....if they attack any one, any thing, at any time, what happens if they decide to swoop down and fling that quest-related NPC 200 feet into the air? What happens if you happen to walk into an area where 5 frost dragons spawned? If you want to kill a really high-level enemy, couldn't you potentially lead it into an area where you know there's a dragon and have the dragon kill it so you can loot it?

I dunno, I have a feeling dragons will cause a lot of annoyances (and hilarity)

i was woundering the same thing for awhile. however all the key quest givers are marked as essential characters such as the main story line ones cant be killed, if side quest givers die than the quest can be given by their family member. still pretty interested to see how this all plays out though. im sure things wont be too, too crazy
