Until beth do us part?

Soz for the horrendous title
So my question is if for some reason you had to pick between bethesda or obsidian to take full rights and develop the rest of the fallout games in the series who would you pick and who do you think would do a better job or would you contract a completely new developer to take over and who?
For me there is no clear answer but beth would get better sales .

Obsidian, I had that answer as soon as I read the second line.

I get the feeling this will get locked at some point before the 200 post limit but we'll see.

Obsidian, I'd rather have a awesome story then a hiking game.

I see mods patrolling the thread but I don't get why it would get locked?

I was thinking that some users who hate bethesda would start arguing with the people who like bethesda and, well I think you know the rest.

For me, the answer is Obsidian without even a slight pause. I just don't think Bethesda is a very good match for this IP. When it comes to open world dungeon crawlers, Bethesda is king, no doubt. Fallout isn't supposed to be a dungeon crawler.

Again you have a point but you could explore in the originals I feel people overstate this to be honest .I personally feel that the game having a little more emphasis on exploration shouldn't void it of being a fallout game and I feel if back in the day it may of had some more emphasis in exploration had the technology permitted it.

I don't like deciding in these extreme hypothetical questions, not something I enjoy.

Obsidian, I liked New Vegas more as a Fallout game, and as a game in general.

Obsidian. Tbh; FNV was a better FO game than FO3, hands down.

I would probably hire a different developer(no idea who) to start a new Fallout game from scratch, but enlist the aid of Obsidian in it's development (mostly for the story/scripting/quests department).

This is probably the best answer anyone could give.
Obsidian is a company with a better writing staff and some great creative minds . even mishaps like Alpha Protocol have great ideas behind them... The problem though is money... Obsidian are struggling and need backing.
Bethesda is becoming a mogul pumping out, until now, mediocre third party titles and huge exploration games.. Their own games are becoming more and more big budget, and less and less risks are taken to make them in financial successes.
So the choice is basically between: Great writers but financially unstable or a studio who is also a producing studio whose ambition it is to become like EA or worse Activision..

Obsidian seems the only logical choice for me from the devs I know of - and the contract arranged so that they can ditch the ES gameplaycore and Beth's engine.

I vote for: Bethesda do the painting and Obsidian do the writing.

Obsidian with-out a doubt, a much better game all-round will be produced; let Bethesda heve their Elder Scrolls - though frankly I've played Skyrim and it's more the typical Bethesda affair than ever, glad I'm so used to making my own stories up at this point.

I enjoyed both games, so I don't care. That said, I cannot see Obsidian making any more Fallout games.

Id rather have Obsidian, they did a far better job than beth did.

I was thinking that some users who hate bethesda would start arguing with the people who like bethesda and, well I think you know the rest.

I wouldnt go as far to say there are many people left here who hate bethesda, or even if there ever were. There are just people who are critical of the design decisions/direction they decided to take, that is; us dinosaurs who roam around this specific section. To say we hate bethesda is a misconstruction, im sure all of us can name some aspects of bethesda games we do like, we definitely aren't a binary opposition to all things beth.

I'm gonna go against the grain and say bethesda , obsidian used alot of beths assets so with out that it would be a huge stab in the dark with there own engine etc.But I think bethesda done a brilliant job (bar broken steel) I still think they need to learn but I think they are very capable of doing so and with the creation engine I think fallout 4 will be impressive from a technical veiw point and I think they will have learned from fallout 3 so it will improve from a writing stand point.

I think Beth should keep the rights, they being richer and all, but keep hiring Obsidian to do the job.

Obsidian hands down... Though I'd miss Bethesda's skill with their 3d assets and environments... Allowing for the fact that it was a desert, I still say that Bethesda did a better job on everything landscape and character model related. If it weren't an ultimatum of one or the other, I'd actually prefer it if Obsidian hired them to do content creation based on written descriptions.
