Upcoming Dx11 Patch may deliver new Textures? (Guess)

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 4:14 pm

Hello folks,

We all know about the Dx11 Patch and since when it is announced. Now is the question: "Why is it taking them so long?" I'd say they aren't only working on Dx11, one time, Cry-Adam said that the Dx11 Team wasn't the team that's working on the AI and textures, so the Dx11 Patch might be Patch 2.0, where AI, Textures and Dx11 are going to blow our mind.

That would be awesome, and would even explain why Crytek jumped between the Patch names (1.2 --> 1.4 --> 1.8).

That means it's near the release.

Yeah, I'm a dreamer, but well it surely can be!

What do you think?

Patch version numbers don't mean anything other than that's what they call their build internally. It's the content that's important. Not the version numbers.

Properly? There is no "proper" way to name a game version build. It is entirely up to the Developer to decide those things. Version numbers are more for the Developers than it is for the gamers because that is how the Developer keeps track of their progress. They could have just called it "The Patch" if they felt like it. I'm sure that "1.8" is just short for a larger build number they use internally at Crytek. Probably more like 1.x.x.8xxx.
