Upcoming Free Content!

Post » Wed Feb 17, 2016 2:24 pm

Since the other thread seems primarily focused on the paid DLC, let's discuss the free content that was announced in the post:

- New minor features and opimizations (Like the Settler Menu, Weapon Debris (PC), and increased draw distance (Consoles) we already saw in the last patch.

- New Quests

- hardcoe Mode

- The Creation Kit

So, what do you all think? I'm excited for the latter two, and I didn't actually expect to get new quests.

It is from "more optimizations to gameplay and quests" from today's DLC post. There could be new free quests or it could be more optimizations to quests. Although that seems an odd way to say quest fixes.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but that means fixes to gameplay features and fixes for quests. I seriously doubt it "means what you think it means".

"There are no bugs in Fallout 4, only sub optimal 'features'. Now buy our DLC, you swine! "

But isn't it already assumed that there will be quest fixes? This doesn't make sense.

How do you not know the meaning of the word optimize?

It's also assumed that there will be gameplay fixes as well. Heck it is also assumed that the GECK will be released, and they included that in the statement...

Optomizations means things like rebalancing or improvements. Not bug fixes. The GECK is an actual feature that has to be announced. They can't just plop it down out of the blue.

I'm sorry you and others feel the need to hijack this thread with pedantry.

What bubble? All I mentioned was the confusing nature of the sentence. While it would be nice to have free quest, I expect all new quests will be in the DLC. However, there is the possibility that some of the side quests that Bethesda wasn't able to finish for Fallout 4 will be added for free at a later time, but most likely added to the DLC like 20 Leagues Under the Sea.

But you can also state that it is already assumed there will be optimization to gameplay.

The way Bethesda's statement is word there will be optimization to both gameplay and quests. If they were going to add more quests via a patch, then Bethesda would have simply stated "additional quests" which would probably be in it's own sentence rather than combining it with the "optimization" sentence.

I am more interested in the new survivor mode difficulty because currently it is too easy. Based on the way I currently play on survivor mode with only non legendary weapons and light armor (around 80 - 90 damage resistance), I would have expected to only be able to play the game on very high difficulty at best. Hopefully the new survivor mode will force me to change the way I play the game beyond eating and sleeping.
