Update from Bethesda's video producer:

I will say (and hopefully not get in trouble for saying) that the video is done, technically. But we want to play nice with all our friends throughout Europe (some of whom are likely on this very forum), and not give the US/English-speaking fans preferential treatment. So we're waiting on all the localization stuff to release it. So it should be pretty soon (no exact date), but we have to get all that squared away. As soon as I've got that stuff I'll be cranking on those versions so you guys can see it. Try to be patient, it's coming soon. :)

Another update from Bestheda's Gstaff on page 2 of this thread:

Won't be much longer... my hope is the end of the week. If it's not Friday, should be early next week.

More from Gstaff:

It's an HD video that's similar to what we've shown folks at E3, QuakeCon, and PAX. It's divided into three parts and features light commentary from Todd Howard.

It's definitely your best opportunity to see (and hear) the game in action.

... the other thread isn't at the 200 post limit yet? :cake:

10 more posts can mean 10 more minutes, or 10 more hours. A spam comment going "inb4 lock" (which is against the rules mind you) shouldn't be cause for concern!

I honestly somewhat forgot about this video. I've gotten so caught up in Death Note on netflix :P

I'm glad to see it is done and now pretty close to being released.

Given there's an update late on the other thread and the previous topic has, like, 4 posts left... I thought we may as well start afresh.

Won't be long now. By the op, Beth work a bit different than other devs, and like to hit the European languages at the same time as English speaking countries. Actually shows they give a damn :)

Come on, now languages are the hold up? Don't you think fans around the world would rather see a video now then wait for their native language version?

Doesn't a high percentage of Europe speak English anyway?

I'd take a French version just so I can see the gameplay in HD!!

I don't understand why you have to localize a DEMO.

Most of the world speaks english, and just about everyone using internet does.

Are they using different commentators? Or are they changing the subtitles?

Not feeling particularly optimistic about today with that "no date" side-note... It sounds like it could still be a few days...

It'll be subtitles. If not, that'd just be weird.

It's because of Todd's VO. Hopefully the fact that there is one means its necessary and won't just be a discussion of micro detail and macro detail.

Personally, I don't even want the VO, I just want to HEAR THE GAME!

Not everyone speaks good english guys, there's no reason to bash Bethesda for releasing the demo late because they want to satisfy all.

I'm sure non-english speakers wouldn't care if they got their subtitles later. I think everyone wants to see the game more than understand the voice, english and non-english alike would appreciate it coming early.

They could release a totally silent version now to treat everyone fairly - maybe some nice 1920's piano cinema music to go along with it?

They could do the noise stuff later. We know what the sound of an axe hitting a wolf is by now.

Unfortunately, I don't think the video will be out today. But I do however, think it will be here tomorrow. Now that the actual video is done, Todd's VO is synchronized with the gameplay...how long could it possibly take to localize it? They're probably finishing up the subtitles for each language today and get it confirmed...which I'm hoping it is the first thing on Bethblog tomorrow morning.

Or release it without Todd's VO. I love him and everything, but I don't need him to explain Dragon Shouts to me again. Hearing the game would be a far better experience in my opinion. They could always release the alternate versions with various localized VO and Todd's VO later.

Well it would be nice to understand what the voice that pvssyrs over the actual game audio says, just my opinion. I see your point and all, but MY point is that Bethesda is doing a good job at satisfying everyone, even thought it takes a little longer.
