2.2 Gb update... And nothing?

Post » Thu Mar 17, 2016 2:46 pm

About 5 hours ago, I sat down and turned on my XB1 to play some more of my favourite game

(well; favourite, these days) and an update was in the pipeline. 2.2 Gb, it said.

So I accepted and it started downloading. After it was done, I started up and...

Nothing... Nothing!

I may be wrong or my memory is serving me as it usually does (FUBAR  ),

but the menu seems to have had an additional choice added to it: Add-ons.

But when chosen, it's empty. That's the only (possible) change I can see.

How the h*ll can the (possible) addition of a new choice in the menu amount to 2.2Gb's?

Or could they have added the new Survival Mode?

I must admit I haven't checked as I'm still only playing the very first build/playthrough

(just reached level 91), but still; altering that couldn't be 2.2Gb's, could it?

WTF?

Are there any of You good folks that can tell me what's going on?

Most of it is preparing the game for the first DLC. I think.

Well that would explain a lot.

... But I thought that the 1.4 update was the one that recieved a few weeks ago?

The one that, among other things, allows me to build workbenches in Home Plate/Diamond City?

Oh, well.

Thanks guys!

Lots o' fixes and there are some additions to workshop mode. .. and they got rid of another duplication glitch. Because people on consoles don't deserve cheats.. only pc players are allowed to cheat.

It added a few new settlement items, bug fixes, ect. Just type "Fallout 4 1.4 patch" into google and look at the patch notes.

honestly...

i'm playing on PC and have the update for a while.

there's a sticky, right here in this forum regarding updates, as it should be.

what shouldn't be, in any case, is that the latest entry is from last years 1.2 update.

I think the lack of an update to that thread might be due to the move to a new forum and site. Not sure if they plan on updating these forums anymore (haven't signed up to the new site personally).

On the X1, which dupe glitch did they remove? Only one I use is the shipments resources one...

The Shipments duplication glitch is the glitch that apparently got fixed in the 1.4 patch.

Well that's very lame for the devs to screw us, guess there's no point in my ever making a new playthrough after that then. The ability to use that glitch was the Only way I built up settlement after settlement into 21 person paradises. Without the glitch there's just no way I'd ever do it to one, let alone the scores the minutemen want done.

FIXED ISSUE WITH DUPLICATING SCRAPS SHIPMENTS

I cannot even begin to tell you how pissed the ***k off I am right now.

I don't ever want to hear another one of you little pukes [censored] about how they cater to console users.

I despise Bethesda right now.

Unless fixing the Shipments duplication glitch (relatively benign in nature) also fixed another bug / glitch that was not so benign, I don't see the urgency in fixing the Shipments duplication glitch over more important, game breaking or potentially game breaking issues. The fix employed seems to require you to drop Shipments on the ground (and manually scrap) to have the materials added to the Workbench. I responded in another thread http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1596000-so-that-14-patch/#entry25053498 to what someone thought might be a bug. Sounds like the bug is actually Bethesda's solution.

Very interesting point you raise OP. Seriously, there's some new decorations (not exactly an overwhelming amount), and some bug fixes, but srsly what's taking up 2.2 GB?

Are meatbags that resource intensive?

Don't worry, they hate you too. Things players can choose to do or not do, they will patch first thing, but things like quests not working, perks not working, turret lights not working at settlements, etc, they will never fix.

Yeah, seems like a [censored] thing to go and "fix". The priorities of what Really needs fixing and fixing a beneficial glitch like that seems idiotic. I've rarely ever seen a dev team make smart moves though. Good thing I spent time the other day doing the glitch, I've got resources to spare now, but until we get console mods to repair this "fix" I won't be starting any new playthroughs.

Oh look, Preston is still doing his stupid Institute Dialogue loop. And settlement numbers STILL don't display properly. Great patch!

It's odd. Sure it has a list of fixes and can now use already preexisting objects in settlements - but for a patch that's a whopping five times bigger than previous ones that were jam packed themselves, it's almost like we have a gig or two of "secret data". Maybe there's a surprise for us to find by ourselves. Possibly a new radio station?

If we've all got Automatron now and the purchase is just an unlock token, I can see modders finding it in the next day or two and gaining access via mods - so it surely can't be that but you never know. Stranger things have happened.

The duping of shipments was ruining the game for me to the point where I had all the shipments in a box and rarely left my settlements. Now im back out looking for stuff on a new play.

Also enjoying the new signs and items, not a fan of the raider/supermutant stuff though myself.

Most of the patch was fixes/updates and getting ready for dlc soon.
