GI update today #1

Post » Thu May 12, 2011 8:02 am

Yea that's true. I believe they still have a feature on "game mechanics" and "combat" though according to one of their earlier articles. Maybe today will be one of those?

Fingers crossed....

Stop saying that.

Make me?

Anyways, I'm really hoping for screenshots, but who knows? We might luck out and get an article about game mechanics.

Then again, it could just be the podcast. Which is always good.

Someone should go pester ask Andrew Reiner on his Twitter. I would, but I don't have one.

Someone already did, and he didn't answer (though Pete Hines answered a generic question on how the graphics will look).

I took that to mean they don't intend on playing that same game today (or is simply too busy). One tweet is all we need to turn the forum into a column of fire. :)

Hope we still get an update!

I would really like to see a few screenshots. Just something to give us more of an idea what stage they're at with people and the environment. Maybe a sneak peek at what sort of HUD they've got on their plate.

i'd kinda like to hear more about combat... more details about it would be nice... are spears back?

how brutal is the combat, exactly? is it no more brutal than oblivion's? [blood splatters, and thats it]

or will it be more like fallout's, or better? [decapitation, dismemberment, crippling]

im very curious about combat... and the weapons we have access to.

I think I will go to bed. (Is tired) :snoring:

I am not waiting again for a very long time like I did with the last update.

So long and see you tomorrow!

I skimmed through the magazine article to try and find those parts that said, "To learn more details on [whatever] topic, visit gameinformer.com/skyrim"

I saw one on page 53 about Radiant Story and technical features, which we just got on Monday.

Another one on page 59 about the Draconic Language, which we got early on translating the cover.

I remember someone saying there was one of these for combat but i didn't see it.

Was there ever any promises to have the combat more explains on the game informer site?

I hope we get it earlier than we sometimes have, since I have a lot to do tomorrow so if I need to get off before it comes out I'm screwed.

What did he say about the graphics?

Matt Writes:
@DCDeacon Will there be a drastic visual difference between the PC/console versions of Skyrim if using a beastly PC w/ all settings at max?

Pete Responds:
@MattMcCarty007 I'm sure it'll look amazing on a beastly PC with max settings. Not going beyond that to start a PC v Console flame war.

He is a good politician. :)

If I regret one tiny thing, it's that there has not been much personal input from GI so far in the coverage. You know what a mean : discovery, going wow, debating pros and cons... Would have like something from that perspective.

What we had sounded rather cold and official - pretty much the tone of a press release (I'm looking at you, "The vast and impressively detailed open world of Oblivion won over critics and gamers alike with cutting edge graphics, high dynamic range lighting, and the innovative Radiant AI technology that endowed non-player characters with decision-making abilities and daily routines.").

I know allowing a freer tone puts at greater risk to have spoilers or something that ends up not being implemented to be leaked. Still, gotta balance more need of information control and PR-talk, I reckon.

For those interested in fast travel this is what pete said on twitter...

"DCDeacon @KEN_Hauge Not talking about fast travel yet. Still working on some things. Yes, better than Oblivion. Best game BGS has ever made."

Sounds promising! Best game ever!

Whatever they will show, I will be happy.

The fact that they even give us new info is good, that they've done it several times is great!

I am so looking forward to this. :)
