Upgrade to Imperial edition (I bought from GMG)

Post » Wed Mar 05, 2014 10:00 pm

Hello, I read you will be able to upgrade to imperial edition once the game is released...But I would like to upgrade now, just because of the early access! 3 days vs 5 days

It is possible? Have some of you done it via GMG?

I would say contact your GMG support and ask from them, I think that in any case they ask more money and let you change the game from Standard to Imperial.

At least from normal stores that is possible... ( done that with GameStop before on MMO games. )

Ok thanks. Yes that's what I thought, but I wanted to know opinions.

I'm gonna ask.

Would you mind posting the results of your inquiry here? I guess others are asking themselves the same question ...

Well, GMG tells me it is not possible to upgrade.
ZoS tells me that as I bought form another retailer, they can't do anything.

The only possibility is to refund my money and buy the imperial edition. I have asked to GMG about it but no answer yet.
I guess it won't be possible to refund. My key is activated, etc, etc.

So, bad news.

that is a damn shame... would think that GMG is pressured to make it happen but ... if ZoS says that it's not in their hands I can understand that.

I'm thinking that the key they sent to me is for early access. I don't think it is the same key as for final release? I even have another early access key grom Game (I cancelled the order and they've already sent to me the early access key).

I'm gonna ask GMG about it.

GMG finally refunded to me the game. So now I can buy Imperial edition.

I thought it would be 5 days regardless of the version ordered as long as you preordered?

While on the topic of Standard/Imperial edition i have a question.. I Cant make up my mind about it.

Im not going to play Imperial, probably never.. Is it still worth spending the money for it concidering i get a horse? Thats the major reason i would buy imp edition for, the horse.

It is 5 days regardless the version just from ZoS store. From GMG it was 3 for the standard and 5 for the imperial.

Answer from ZoS:

Did GMG charge your credit card already? Perhaps that was the price of getting that 20% discount. Still seems a bit shady if they did given the game hasn't been released yet.

I know people who ordered from Amazon.com and their credit card won't get charged until the release of the game, April 4. Also, if the order is cancelled, Amazon states that it will revoke the early access code so apparently they have the means to communicate to Bethesda to yank early access privileges.

Edit: Read your later message that GMG did cancel the order. Good for you.

Yes they charged to me the whole order. I opened a ticket in their support website and told me they couldn refund because the key was sent. And that was FALSE. They sent to me the Early Access code for preorder and that is FREE. The final code does not exist yet, so I opened the problem in paypal and in 5 minutes they refund the money to me. I will never buy from GMG again.

It depends on how much you value the extra transportion speed. In beta, the cost of a horse (without the Imperial edition) was 17k gold. To give you some idea of how fast or slow you could accumulate gold, I had roughly 3.5k by the time I reached level 10 through quest rewards and looting mobs. One caveat is that ZOS could always change the price of the horse and the gold rewards and drops in the final.
