Upper Niben and Ships

Post » Wed Feb 12, 2014 11:26 pm

Can a ship pass under the bridge going across the Upper Niben?

I'm talking about the one on the Red Ring Road not the Talos Bridge near Weye leading to Talos' Plaza.

The bridge near Fort Empire and Fort Allessia.

This has probably been covered but its drives me crazy.

The whole Niben rivers and lakes make no sense, a large ship wouldn't fit passed the bridge but the bigger problem is that Leyawiin blocks the entrance. In game we saw no way a ship could get passed Leyawiin. It was really designed poorly.

Depends on the size of the ship, but I have made the trip from Lake Rumare down to the mouth of the Niben past Leyawiin in a rowboat without any problems.

No, there literally is no access to the Niben lake system from sea. Leyawiin is completely blocking the way, even a small merchant ship wouldn't be able to get passed Leyawiin because there is literally no way besides using moving equipment and that would take way too long. It's literally a case of bad world design.

...That's a mod, that doesn't matter in the context of talking about it lore-wise or how the vanilla game is. I could remove leyawiin entirely but that doesn't mean I'm right when I say a ship can get through that way. It literally is a case of bad world design.

Hmmm. I always avoided Better Cities because of compatibility with other mods but now...

I hope in the future they correct this especially with an upcoming release.

Ah, great. I'm not the only one that noticed, then.

Lore-wise there's probably a way for ships to get through but holy hell what were they thinking?

I kinda wish Leyawiin was a Istanbul-like city. Two districts separated by a large river.

Another question. With Better Cities does this mod fix this?

You need a mod to sail a ship in the first place. The OP's question of whether a ship could make under the bridge is not a lore question or a vanilla question. You can't sail ships in vanilla and lore has nothing to do with bridge heights. Heck the whole game is anti-lore considering that Cyrodiil is a jungle in lore.

It sounds like a lore question to me.
