I'm upset in the direction this game is taking.

Let me just say that I am a huge fan of the Elder's Scroll series (So you guys don't call me a troll), but I have to say I am VERY disappointed in the direction that this game is headed.

Here are the reasons why:

No spears. In a Nordic setting. What???
Classes removed. Again....what?!?!
No crossbows. Todd thinks they are stupid. Oblivion NPC M'aig confirms this.
Spellmaking removed (unlimited possibilities of fun removed)
Less spells
Fallout-like perks replace birthsigns. :/
Graphics looks only SLIGHTLY improved from Oblivion
No more attributes
UI is inspired by apple with no mouse support
Fast travel, compass both return in this game

I'm really disappointed. I loved this series...

I deserve to have my opinion shared.

And apparently I'm not alone if you say "another one of these"

I'm really disappointed. I loved this series...

1. Far enough if you like spears
2. Their testing this new way of gameplay and its not going to ruin the experience
3. Crossbows in reality take quite a while to reload which would be critical in a game like the elder scrolls
4. Hasn't been confirmed
5. Actually theirs more spells
6. I'm half and half on this but it should ruin the game experience it will just define your character for example more of a mage then a mage, archer, swordsmen, assassin, stealth expert etc
7. They look pretty good and moderately improved in my opinion
8. I'll miss that too
9. The UI is made to work better for the character simpler, faster and better looks
10. Fast travel is optional, compass is always on the screen now and if you don't like it their will be plenty of mods which no doubt will remove it and make it like previous games e.g Morrowind

lol'd.

While all this has been agonised over ad nauseum, I will ask... what's so wrong about the removal of classes? Genuinely don't see a problem here.

My god, I must really be behind. I hadn't heard of a lot of this. If this is true, I'm not too happy either. :cold:

However, I thought spears were confirmed, just not "traditionally?"

EDIT: I don't have a problem with the UI and compass/fast travel decisions, though.

Next time you should probably join one of those threads and post your opinions there then make a thread centered around you

play the game first, then let us know

Exactly. There are plenty of other threads just like this where you could have shared your opinion. A new thread was necessary?

No, it hasn't. Todd Howard said in the GI podcast that it's a "wildcard", he doesn't know if it gonna end up in the game or not. They are playing around with it, but if they don't like what they come up with, it won't be there.

Actually, spellmaking being removed HAS been confirmed,

In the recent podcast with Todd Howard it's been confirmed that it is NOT confirmed :P

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1164241-new-magic-system-in-skyrim/page__p__17114479#entry17114479

About 14 minutes into the GI podcast Howard talks about spell craft

He says

it's kind of a...It's a real wildcard one thing that we've done a lot. There are pluses and minuses to it. Uuum we'd like to find...we have some ideas that we really like and how to solve that and I don't know where that's going to go. But the thing that we don't like about the previous systems that we've done is that it becomes very spread sheety where it takes the magic out of magic if you know what I mean.

Essentially they're not sure if spell craft is going to make it. He said they might be able to find ways around it (the spread sheety feeling and how the spells are coupled) but they don't know where that's going to go yet.

I'll ask again, since you've either forgotten or chosen to ignore: what's the issue with no classes? Why does this bother you?

Has it? Last I heard it was still up in the air? Of course that being said I do understand why it may not be included and wont be that broken up by its absence.

Next time make sure your info is correct that specific piece of info has been circulating for a month and it still hasn't be confirmed

It is my belief that Todd feels spellmaking is too "spreadsheety" and will not be in the game. I believe he is just using the term "wildcard" so people don't get upset.

These are just my beliefs, but I would definitely bet money on them.
