An Urgent Appeal

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 8:11 pm

Hello,

I know Oblivion patching was abandoned a long time ago, and the odds of success of this appeal to turn out my way is very slim, but i'm going to try it anyway.

Firstly, i was going to ask for Bug-fixes but then i remembered Skyrim is already a work in progress, and something like that would take a lot of time, and Bethesda doesn't have that time.
No, what i want to ask is something simple, in my opinion ( do note that I'm a noob ) it wouldn't take a lot.

Just import the transparency multisampling and the AA from fallout to oblivion. The AA in oblivion is the one thing that many people complain.

Its not very much, but would help a lot.

Thanks a lot,
Alex.

You know there is virtually no chance Bethesda will do this, right?

However, can get Anti Aliasing in Oblivion. Including AA with HDR if your graphics card support it. Just select HDR in the Oblivion Settings and AA in the card settings. But maybe I'm not understanding question.

I said the chances are very slim, but still its worth trying.

But I take it that you're asking for more than Anti Aliasing? Since you can get pretty good AA in Oblivion now.

I'm asking transparency multi-sampling from fallout to oblivion.

nVIDIA Control Panel has Antialiasing - Transparency option under Oblivion, with multisampling and supersampling as available choices, so I guess it's not that important.

Also, transparency? Urgent? Seriously? It's not that your idea of something that is needed is not good (any improvement is good) but it definitely is not urgent. What is urgent is full support for multicore, now that's an interesting stuff

Also, meh... it's transparent. I tried to apply multisampling transparency antialiasing once and then I cast Invisibility

Boy, you didn't know what I see

Not only it lags heavily during the cast time (when it transitions between opaque to invisible), but it doesn't make anything look any better, because it's goddang transparent, you can't see anything transparent!

And nobody stares at trees for more than one minute anyway

Judging by the very images you linked to, the effect is so subtle that I wonder why do you consider this feature so important anyway.
