URGENT HELP REQUIRED XBOX360 - DRAGONBORN ADD-ON

Post » Sat Dec 14, 2013 8:56 pm

Hi, I'm new here and need some help or advice.

I have completed Skyrim campaign so decided to get the Dragonborn add-on for Xbox360 (As you do). I had already looked into how to start playing it and how to get to solstheim etc so I went to Windhelm docks but there was only one ship and the dude who is supposed to take you there is not there. I also did not get approached by the dudes with masks etc for hours.

I checked the add ons at the menu screen and the Dragonborn is there and I have cleared the cache on my Xbox Hdd's to no avail.

I know now what the issue is and I need some advice as I do not want to have to start the game again :-(

The mission "The Horn Of Jurgen Windcaller" is showing complete in my objectives but when I checked it the very last objective "Return: The Horn Of Jurgen Windcaller" has a red X against it and shows as failed????

My main question is....Can this be amended and if so how as I have paid £15 for an add on that I cant play :-(

Open to suggestions but it's definatley this that is causing the issue I'm sure..

The Horn Of Jurgen Windcaller - Mission shows complete

Return: The Horn Of Jurgen Windcaller last objective within this quest is marked with a red x

ANY IDEAS????????????????

Don't worry about the red x, you're supposed to fail that stage.

Spoiler
After all, Delphine got there first and took the horn.

As for the other issue, I'm not sure what's happening. Are you sure Dragonborn is active?

Yeh I think so as its showing in the add ons at the main menu?

Just to note: This is not the Red x on the bit where you read the note and got to that bird in Rivenwood its the end one "Return: The Horn Of Jurgen Windcaller"

I am stumped???

If it's there, it should be active -I guess, since I don't own an xbox.

But the "Horn of Jurgen Windcaller" isn't the one which triggers the Dragonborn questline (and the Cultists). It's the previous one: "The Way of the Voice". If Dragonborn is active, I believe it should have triggered already -not to mention that the ship to Solstheim would be there, whether the questline had triggered or not.

Are there any Bethesda people I can contact for advice do you know? I'm pulling my hair out on this one???

I have coppied the below and the red x is next to the objective - "Return the horn to Arngeir" but it actually says "Return: The Horn Of Jurgen Windcaller" in the quest menu?

Journal Entry

After demonstrating my ability to learn Words of Power and to Shout, the Greybeard Arngeir has sent me on a final trial - retrieving the Horn of Jurgen Windcaller from his tomb in Ustengrav, a burial mound in the marshes of Hjaalmarch.

  • Objective: Retrieve the Horn of Jurgen Windcaller
  • Objective: Read the note

After demonstrating my ability to learn Words of Power and to Shout, the Greybeard Arngeir sent me on a final trial - retrieving the Horn of Jurgen Windcaller from his tomb in Ustengrav. Unfortunately, when I reached the tomb, I found that someone had replaced the Horn of Jurgen Windcaller with a note asking me to meet them in the Sleeping Giant Inn in Riverwood.

  • Objective: Meet with whoever took the horn

After demonstrating my ability to learn Words of Power and to Shout, the Greybeard Arngeir sent me on a final trial - retrieving the Horn of Jurgen Windcaller from his tomb in Ustengrav. When I arrived, the horn was missing, and in its place was a note from Delphine asking me to meet her in Riverwood. Delphine has given me the horn, so I can now return to Arngeir and complete my training.

  • Objective: Return the horn to Arngeir
  • Objective: Learn the Word of Power from Wulfgar
  • Objective: Receive the Greybeards' greeting

I don't personally know anyone from Bethesda tech support, if that's what you asked me.

However, as I said above, the "Horn of Jurgen Windcaller" has nothing to do with the Dragonborn questline. The actual trigger, is "The Way of the Voice" quest.

You can try re-downloading the DLC, to make sure nothing has gone wrong with it.

All you have to do to finish the quest (I didn't get the cultist attack until after I did) is go talk to Delphine at the inn in Riverwood. You do NOT have to go kill a dragon with her, that's a different quest. Then return to the Greybeards.

Edit: Nevermind, you seem to have completed the quest.

I found completing the other task in Misc. helps release quests I think are locked up. I am at level 68. I still have quests that I am finishing from the beginning of the game. I bought 6 houses so far and furnished them. I moved my wife and kids to Solitude. I still trying to get the house in Markeath. It took forever to get to buy the house in Solitude. I found that alot of the quests were related and needed to be done in a certain order to finish them. You also needed to be at certrain levels to finish them. I google the quests that have no map locations just to finish them.

Quests at the bottom are older. Start by completing all the other quests you have at the bottom and work up.

According to what you have listed, everything looks right. From there, fast travel to the standing stone outside of Riverwood, and if it is dark, use the wait feature for daytime. Run to the outskirts of Riverwood, and wait outside the town, and you will see 2 cultists walking toward you. After you dispatch the 2, read the message than one of them has and that will start the Dragonborn quest.

The reason I say go to the standing stone, is because if it is dark when you get there, you will end up fighting more than just the cultists. If you have the Dawnguard dlc, you will also be fighting vampires, along with a dragon. If you have the Hearthfire dlc, before the cultists get to you to talk to you, a messenger will show up. And with the Dawnguard, after you dispatch the cultists, a member of the Dawnguard will show up to start that dlc.

I think, but do not know for sure, that being able to go and catch the boat early was fixed by the 1.9 patch.

Hope this helps.

He should be there with his boat to Solstheim, even if you haven't finished the quest to officially be made Dragonborn by the Greybeards. I say check your hard drive from the dashboard to be absolutely sure that you have the Dragonborn DLC installed because the boat not being there is a bug I've never heard of....you don't need to start Dragonborns quest to go to Solstheim. If you downloaded the DLC while you were playing Skyrim then you could've broken your save file in some strange way and might need to delete all Skyrims files then start fresh and download the DLC again.

A way to see if Dragonborn is installed properly is if you have the Steel Smithing perk then go to a forge and see if Bonemold is in the list of armor types that you can forge, if not then Dragonborn isn't installed.
