Urgent! Importing blender into nifskope.

Post » Fri Apr 11, 2014 11:58 am

I'm posting here because I'm most likely to get answers fast here, I guess.

I'm doing an admision test for a school. And I thought it would be cool to use Skyrim to show of what I've done. I've worked in blender and simply want to import it into the skyrim CK. I'm however completely new to nifskope, and don't know what to do really.

I exported the blender file as .obj in skyrim/data/meshes. I then tried to import it into nifskope, but I get the following message.

failed to open "C:/Games/Steam/SteamApps/common/skyrim/Data/meshes/B?¤nk3.mtl"

material "Material.002" not found in mtllib

material "Material.003" not found in mtllib

Error: 418 invalid index(es) in block # 17 NiTriShapeData.Triangles

Error: 418 invalid index(es) in block # 22 NiTriShapeData.Triangles

Basically only one part of the model shows up and there's hole in it in one side.

Can someone please help me?

Don't export .obj. Go http://niftools.sourceforge.net/wiki/Blender and get the .nif exporter. You may find that you're using a later Blender than this will work for, however. In which case you might be back to using .obj as an intermediary format between Blender releases.

Unfortunately, as of now, Blender NIF Scripts don't have Skyrim support yet. So export it as a Fallout 3 mesh, then:

1. Open up NifSkope and Load your newly exported .nif.
2. In Block Details open up the NiHeader.
3. Change User Version and User Version 2 values (11->12 and 34->83, respectively).
4. Save and Load the .nif. This will revert the .nif file type to the Skyrim-compatible one.

That way, the CK can read it as a Skyrim file.

Ok, what I understood I have to install

http://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.6.6/python-2.6.6.msi

http://download.blender.org/release/Blender2.49b/blender-2.49b-windows.exe

http://sourceforge.net/projects/pyffi/files/pyffi/2.1.11/PyFFI-2.1.11.cefd181.win32.exe/download

http://sourceforge.net/projects/niftools/files/blender_nif_scripts/2.5.x/2.5.09/

In order, and then configure a nifscript for blender. Does this mean I need to use two different versions of blender? (I have 2.70) The older to be able to export to nif.

I'm still somewhat confused.
