I like SK. It definitely sounds more like Skyrim than SR does.

TESV works well too.

I like SKY, but of the two-letter abbreviations, I think SR is the best.

I disagree. SR sounds more like Skyrim. Why, because it splits up the syllables. SK cuts off your word whereas SR Makes you say both words. Sky... Rim.

I like either ES: V or SK. SR just doesn't seem right. I know there's Morrowind, and Daggerfall, but those seem to work a little better. Maybe it is that Skyrim is such a short word compared to the others.

I call for a poll!

I'll say SR, since there's already ShadowKey to take SK.

As others have said, SR (Skyrim) keeps in tone with the previous abbreviations. On the other hand, I don't actually see why we need to shorten it - Skyrim is only 6 letters.

I like Skyrim.

It's only six letters. 4 extra letters is not so hard to type out.

Otherwise I would be on the SK band wagon but will always like Skyrim the best.

SR - to follow the pattern that the first letter of each syllable is in the abbreviation. Makes most sense that way.

Why does it need to be abbreviated in the first place? It's six letters long FFS; if that's really too long for you then what's wrong with "TESV" or "ES5" or some variant thereof? Personally I doubt I'll really ever shorten the name "Skyrim" for time saving purposes, but based on past naming convention it seems like SR is the most natural choice.

That is true...

I would go for SR. It doesn't exactly sound as good as SK, but hey, let's just go with it.

I don't think we should call it TESV I mean that is a speculation name Skyrim is much better, since we know what it is and really does it take that much less time to type the whole thing out instead of just the abbrivation

When I thought urgent matter I was thinking more along the lines of the elder scrolls banner and when will that be updated.

Saints Row?

Does anyone still care about those games? :P

I think I'll just call it Skyrim myself, unless the whole forum here starts to use one abbreviation all the time... in which case I'll probably follow like a sheep.

What pattern? Daggerfall and Morrowind are the only two that split the word for abbreviation. It's not O-Blivion, it's O-Bliv-I-On. So why don't we abbreviate OB as OBIO? Because the O and the B form the strongest sounds in the title. Same thing with Skyrim. The Sky is more important than the rim, specifically the SK. Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim.

Or how the entire Elder Scrolls site has been demolished to make way for the promo.

Fair enough. For Daggerfall and Morrowind it made sense to split the abbreviation at the new syllable, seeing as they were ... uh, pretty big (on paper). The syllables, I mean. Gah! You know what? No abbreviation for me, indefinitely.

I'm just going to say 'TES: V'. Or just 'Skyrim' until I can think of something original.

DF - DaggerFall
MW - MorroWind
OB - OBlivion
SK - SKyrim

SKMM - Skyrim Mod Manager

I don't know a name for a Wrye Bash port though. Skash sounds stupid.

Arena - A
Daggerfall - D
Morrowind - M
Oblvion - O
Skyrim - S

Heck, it even works with spin-offs.

Battlespire - B
Redguard - R
Travels - T

Am I missing something here, or are these all perfectly easy names that can just be abbreviated with only 1 letter without confusing the matter? At least until we run out of letters I don't see the problem. Personally, I don't expect we will with how good they are with using names with different starting letters, and I can't wait for X to be released, it'll be ten times more fun than Q.

I'm in favor of SK.

When I see SR, I just think of Superman Returns. You don't want Skyrim associated with that do you? DO YOU!?

This is what we must do. I wonder though, if the game was set in Summerset isles. We would want to say SI but thats taken. Same with SK (shadow key)
