Urgent Storyline in Sandbox Game.(spoilers inc)

Hi,this is something that occured to me and I wondered what other folks views were.

So,your partner is dead, your infant child kidnapped..he is alone in the world with strangers..

This to me is a pretty dire and urgent situation which clashes, for me,with a game that is geared for doing your own thing at your own pace.

Question I have is,can you gain immersion (assuming you want it) in the game without going off immediately to find your son?

How do you guys rationalise building water pumps for complete strangers while the safety of your only child is in doubt?

At a similar point in the plot in Skyrim, the choice was to go and see the Greybeards or not...which is a little less urgent

than saving your only child from an unknown fate.

In conclusion, could the story have been a little less urgent and in so doing would it have promoted a more leisurely play through?

I don't think it's urgent ^^

you get out of a vault in a completely destroyed world, with huge insects everywhere, raiders running around...

I think it's perfectly realistic for the character to hold off and not run into his death... equip himself, get to know some people better, get used to the new life ^^

and Codsworth even told you that 200 years have gone, so you don't even know how long ago your son was taken.

I think it's perfectly realistic and immersive not to rush at the beginning. It's not like a few months will change much, if you consider your son being already gone since years... you might as well rebuild and play it safe

Yeah that's a good point about not knowing when your son was taken,he could've even died an old man of natural causes I suppose..at that point.

Still, the parent in me finds it hard not track him down.Cheers.
