"I used to be an adventurer like you...

I'm using a mod that greatly reduces the distance of greetings from NPCs because it just became annoying. Worse than in any other gamesas games before.

Common occurance when walking through the Whiterun marketplace:

"My cousin's out fighting dragons and what--Can't stand the sight of strong nord wo--WULGAR BATTLE-BORN FROM CLAN BAT--I DO MORE FOR MY FATHER THAN--WHATS WRONG SOMEBODY STOLE YOUR SWEET--THIS WAR IS AS STUPID AS OUR FEUD WITH CLA--!

Thank the Divines I'm on a PC and there's a mod that shuts them all the :swear: up.

That adventurer is me. I fight for restoring law and order in Skyrim. Without me putting arrows in other adventurer's kneecaps, where would our guards come from?

Lol. Yeah. I may download the mod as well. Saw it on the Nexus. But at the moment, I still find it too funny to do away with. Every time I pass through town I find myself snickering to myself. I dunno. One of the many corny things that I've come to expect from a Bethesda game. It's like the hilarious glitches -- I'd actually be disappointed if they didn't exist in a TES game.

I've decided I'm going to do a playthrough similar to the "Dead-is-Dead" kind of thing.

If I ever get hit in the knee, the character shall live out the rest of his days as a Whiterun guard.

Lol. Make me laugh. I think that's a brilliant idea. Once he's a guard, he has to tell everyone about how getting shot in the knee ended his adventuring career. Every time they walk by.

You can call them glitches, but I think someone was trying to intimidate or assassinate me.

I once climbed up a mound to get to a word wall, and when I turned around to leave, all of a sudden, a horse fell out of nowhere, splattered on the ground in front of me, and only missed my nose by inches. Have the dragons have taken up divebombing me with horses and mammoths? Or is it something worse than dragons? There were no shrieks, no, flap of wings, could it have been the daedra, here to play pranks?

If only three arrows to the head did as much damage as one to the knee..........

Lol I've encountered a flying horse as well. I love that glitch to no end. my greatest desire is to be able to replicate it on command.

Personally I think it's the Dark Brotherhood, half of the Guards wonder if THEY'RE the Dragonborn, but they took Arrows to the Knees, and I've caught an Assassin sneaking up on me with a Bow in the past, so I think they hunt down potential Dragonborns and disable them to ensure they can't successfully fight Dragons.

.... What do you think is responsible for this apparent rash of arrow-related knee wounds? Are all bandits aiming for the knee?...

Well Bosmers tend to be archers and should be short, So they might end up shooting in the knee or lower body parts. Of course in this game Bosmers are not that short, so that might not make sense.

Maybe its self inflicted accidents from defective bows?

What's the matter, somebody steal you SweetRoll?

I love that line!

Arrow to the knee might be metaphorical. It may be "guard language" for 'deciding to get back home'. Arrow would symbolize the direction and knee represents... home?

I guess it might not be metaphorical after all. :( But yeah, the more material for M'aiq for the future games, the better. He might often wonder how so many Skyrim guards got arrows to their knees.

Or maybe there is a conspiracy against some adventurers! A faction that seriously wounds their knees with well-shot arrows. I don't see it being Dark Brotherhood, though, if someone didn't pay them exceptionally well. After all, DB takes lives, not knees.

Let's leave it as a humorous gap though with no right or wrong answers. :)

I bet their trainer was a women who taught them to hold their shields to high, either to get them crippled so they will no longer be "adventuring" or we just don't hear about the guys where the arrow hit just a little bit higher. After all i havent heard a female guard say her knees have been shot yet.

The female guards are male adventurers who took an arrow in their nether regions.

You would think they'd invest in shin/knee guards.

They are the Borg, they share the same consciousness. One bad egg got in and now they all think they have the same injury, notice the lack of limb, the defect was killed long ago.

I've taken up smithing in an effort to appear to be something other than an adventurer, for fear of taking an arrow to the knee and having to live out the rest of my life as a public servant. No more adventuring until I unravel this conspiracy.

It is actually very concerning.. I get hit by arrows all the time, but I always bounce back.

All it would take is an arrow in the knee to take me out of the race for good.. :cryvaultboy:

Wait for upcoming DLC--guards will ask you to find out who's following them. When you finally track the rascals down, you discover that it's two scribes armed only with rolls of paper, ink wells and pens. They confess that they've been hired to take pictures of the guards in question. A little "persuasion" makes them give you the location of their boss. Following the lead they gave you leads you to a small, cluttered office on the fourth floor of some tower. Behind a desk piled high with papers, you discover a half-orc wearing a green eyeshade. You learn that he's in charge of the realm's health care plan and is bent on tracking down every last guard that failed to disclose a pre-existing condition. Should his efforts be successful, he'll finally obtain a named parking spot for his horse, an office on the third floor of the tower and a "power lunch" with the Jarl at the third best eatery in town. He'll also receive the Red Tie of Imposing Mien which he hopes will make him more successful with the ladies. It won't.
