"I used to be an adventurer like you...

...but then I took an arrow to the knee."

In every city I have heard several guards tell me this same story. What do you think is responsible for this apparent rash of arrow-related knee wounds? Are all bandits aiming for the knee? Might there be some reason why all adventurers take an arrow to the knee and then become guards? Do you feel safe when all of the people in charge of protecting you suffer from an old knee injury?

I feel like this phenomenon, above all others, bears research!

That is code for the Wereman clan. If a dude says that line then you can meet them at night and learn the secret of the Weremen. (Half man, half machine).

It's the Mudcrab talk all over again, albeit in a different fashion, perhaps M'aiq will have something to talk about in TES VI now

I don't know about you guys. But I always aim for the knees. It's where the brains are.

I've taken up smithing in an effort to appear to be something other than an adventurer, for fear of taking an arrow to the knee and having to live out the rest of my life as a public servant. No more adventuring until I unravel this conspiracy.

What I want to know is why taking an arrow to the knee leaves you qualified to be part of the city guard. You'd think being crippled would be a downcheck, but apparently it's part of the job description.

So, can I buy some of your knee-capper arrows? I hear they are very good at "blowing" knees wide open.

Exactly! Apparently, getting shot in the knee qualifies you immediately for a career as a guard. I'm not sure which is the greater conspiracy -- the knee bandits (I don't know what else to call them until I find out who the culprits are,) or the fact that the city guard is populated with a bunch of people who all have the same bad knee.

Yeah, I did kinda want to question his motives. I take swords from chests all the time and not once has its faltered my addiction for adventuring, in fact it's only exacerbated it!

The worst part about that one is that someone did. And I feel like they know who it is, otherwise they wouldn't constantly bring it up. >=-(

I'm using a mod that greatly reduces the distance of greetings from NPCs because it just became annoying. Worse than in any other gamesas games before.

Common occurance when walking through the Whiterun marketplace:

"My cousin's out fighting dragons and what--Can't stand the sight of strong nord wo--WULGAR BATTLE-BORN FROM CLAN BAT--I DO MORE FOR MY FATHER THAN--WHATS WRONG SOMEBODY STOLE YOUR SWEET--THIS WAR IS AS STUPID AS OUR FEUD WITH CLA--!
