User Mods

I love games with a huge collection of fan-made Mods. I spent way more time playing Hero Arena and DOTA than I ever did playing normal Warcraft 3. One of the reasons I feel that Blizzard has been so successful is that they have always encouraged the player community to add more to the game. It would be great if gamesas not only makes a great game with Fallout Online, but gives the fan and community the tools to customize and improve the game organically.

User Interface Customization is a must.

A level editor would be beyond amazing.

Yeah but look at the current state of WoW's raiding. People have got so used to their mods telling them what to do they just stand in gree/red/blue stuff all day. I see more people die in raids because the healers are biching their grid or healbot mod had an error. Some degree of user created stuff would be nice but gamesas needs to watch the mods carefully. I'm more for cosmetic mods then gameplay mods. I don't run deadly boss mods (on occasion I do) or a threat meter in wow. Why? because I learned how to play the game. People just need to learn to play as much as I hate to say stuff like that.

Well I'm assuming he means like UI mods like wows deadly boss mod and what not. I'm sure he doesn't mean user game modes.

Mods in WoW were useful, and, if used correctly, not distracting. It got a bit ridiculous with the Gearscore stuff, but other than that, I haven't found one that I haven't liked.
A gatherer mod for a fallout game might be useful.

That's probably true, but people forget about things like CoH/CoV's Architect system (which can be considered a kind of mod tool, even though it exists within the game itself). I'm sure there's some creative way that that kind of thing can be integrated into the Fallout world (though I shudder to think about what some people may try to do with it).

User interface/graphical mods could always be modifiable, I don't mind that, they are all on the client side anyway. Image

I think it ought to stop at graphical modifications.

WoW got beyond ridiculous with modding.

Yeah it was crazy for a while. Like that one mod that you could draw on the screen to show people where to go. That was a bit overboard. I like the idea of mods but I just hope they don't get to crazy.

How do you imagine the creation of mods in MMO? I remind you that Warcraft 3 was singleplayer/multiplayer game, not MMO.
I think it ought to stop at UI mods ONLY!

i HATE stuffing around with mods. but have much respect to the modders who fill basic gaps.

PLEASE make the game come with a ventrilo like thing built in.
and the ability to change your UI.
*insert anything i forgot*

i was guilty of using dbm in wow most of the time in serious raids,
(something that popped up big audio-visual warnings to move if a
meteor was about to land on you for example)

but it was much more fun using the visual/audio clues provided by the game :)

DBM is a nice mod. The VoIP in APB is great(idea). The thing is a bit buggy right now but its so interesting. by default the mic is always open and you can't hear players past a certain distance. Its really cool when you sneaking up on your enemy and you hear "I got this alley covered you cover the street". So shoot down on them from the roof behind them. That would add some depth to the combat. Now I'm off topic :(

I would rather have no mods and a great UI. At least some way of making our UI our own would be cool. Move the minimap here, re size it and what not.
