Using always the same shout

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 8:33 am

I have quite a number of shouts already: frost breath, fire breath, the one that calms creatures, the one that clear the skies, the Flash one and the one that reduces armor. But I find myself constantly using only the good old fus ro dah.

Even though it has a fairly long cool down (45 seconds after using the three words) it is a very good crowd control and I usually only have to use it once during a hairy fight to give me time to heal/buff myself.

What other shouts do you think is useful and in what situations?

Ethereal is awesome to use as well. Especially as a mage.

If you're a mage or archer, use the Slow Time shout and cackle as you unleash a hurricane of shots in the time it takes for your opponents to make a single step.

the one that spees up attacks...especially if you have the dual wield speed increase talent already....just turns you into a whirring ball of metallic death

I've been spamming Ice Form ever since I got it.

Those deathlords thought they were soooo smart with their cute little disarm chant...

"What good is a disarm shout, Mr Deathlord... If.... .. you are unable to.. speak..."

ice form is definitely great for archer + mages. I'm an archer mage and find myself using that most frequently. But I also use the assassin shout on single bosses, detect life spell is useful in dungeons, and whirlwind sprint is useful when suddenly swamped by enemies.

I keep forgetting to use the shouts and it's difficult to keep track of all the shortcut keys. The keys don't repond that well either. I often have to press them more than once for some functions, even in menus.

I usually found Unrelenting Force, Ice Form and Slow time very useful.
Animal alliance is kinda fun...attacking a bandit camp with 1 Mammoth, 2 Sabre cats and 2 mudcrabs is fuuuuunnn lol

Aura whisper, throw voice, ice form, marked for death, elemental fury, slow time and occasionally unrelenting force.

I tend to stick with lower health/armor and unrelenting force.

Quick question about this one. I have the word for it but havnt put a soul into it yet. So, does it work in caves? And how long does it take for the animals to appear after you shout?

Heh I could never find a use for that one (Unrelenting Force). I seem to always rely on either whirlwind or ethereal form if I'm desperate. I play an archer though so maybe that's why.

I might be wrong but I think the animals don't appear. You just shout at them and they become your allies for a period of time.

UF is great for crowd control when it's maxed out.

It's basically a very unpolite way to say "Excuse me, I need some room".

You know, I never thought of it that way... gonna have to give it more playtime. I like that logic, less effort on my part trying to create space lol.

I usually use either the detect life shout or flame breath with the buff from the graybeard leader.

There's a couple useful ones: Slow Time, if you play a ranged class; Marked for Death, lower's enemy armor basically makes them weaker; Disarm is another useful one if you are fragile... Fus-Do-Rah is probably the most fun one to use, sending enemies flying away doesn't get old, so just use what you prefer. I haven't found myself relying on them too much.

I've just started using Dismay for crowd control as I have no Illusion spells of any note. It works really well and can affect a pretty large group. It's my current favourite shout.

As a sneaking archer I find myself spamming Aura Whisper. It's great for keeping track of enemies (and spotting Draugr in coffins).

Slow Time.

To be quite honest, I find the shouts Overpowered so I try to use them the least I can :P

The only time I break the rules is when I meet a particulary annoying frost mage.

I'd love to use a more diverse variety of shouts, but honestly, the interface won't let me. My short list is already an encyclopedia instead, and I still have 2/3 of a keyboard remaining to assign stuff to. Find the mistake.

Marked for Death is my favorite. It makes any boss fight much easier and is perfect for dragons.

Mostly Unrelenting Force, but also Elemental Fury and the Breath attacks have proven useful. Tried Storm Call yesterday, and it did kill many Stormcloaks (the irony :lmao:), but the cooldown is murder (8 minutes with two words ) and it causes damage to friendlies.

Also Marked for Death, even with just two words helps against though enemies that don't do extreme damage. That is, not Bandit Marauders :lmao:
