Using a bed and waiting causes CTD

Post » Wed Feb 19, 2014 5:06 am

80% of the time that I've used a bed or waited, my PC has CTD.

The only mod I have that does anything to sleeping is "Sleep Tight" but that only effects NPCs.

Have you run BOSS and then tes5edit to see if something is out of order?

Yes and everything is fine but when I use a bed or wait there is a chance of CTD. I'm not too bothered about it but I would like it to stop.

In addition....

Has this happened all along? Did this just start all of a sudden? Any bed? Do you have mods that affect the wait sleep timer cycle?

It's been happening since yesterday. yesterday was the first time i've used a bed or waited since I reinstalled the game.

No. the only mod I have to do with sleeping is one that effect NPCs.

Edit: I forgot to mention it is only with inns and player homes. It has never CTD when using camping equipment.

also even without sleeping my PC sometimes likes to CTD when I have 10+ saves.

"yesterday was the first time i've used a bed or waited since I reinstalled the game."

Can you explain this more? WHy reinstall? Did you clean reinstall then add mods? Start a new character? Load a previous character? If previous character, was the game modded or not?

What mods/how many are you using?

I reinstalled because I was having some problems with the game. constant crashing (not ctd, just crashing so I had to ctrl alt delete to quit) then I reinstalled the game and everything was fine.

I removed all mods and deleted the saves before uninstalling. after I reinstalled I got some mods and started a new game.

134 mods.

only 1 effects NPC sleep. I know it's not a mod problem because it was happening on an unmodded game. I forgot to mention that too.

When you reinstalled you manually deleted the SKyrim directory?

"it was happening on an unmodded game."

Meaning you tried it when you reinstalled the game before adding mods?

I completely removed everything to do with Skyrim.

Yes, I tried before adding mods and it still happened.

Is it crashing or hanging? Do you have to use task manager to kill SKyrim or does it just drop you to desktop with an error message?

Did you refresh the .ini files the game makes?

Try checking the event viewer. Type "event viewer" into the start menu textbox. CHeck application logs under windows logs. You can clear the log

first and then get it to crash if you want. right click the log and select clear log.

The .ini files that reside in the folder your save folder is in.

C:\Users\\Documents\My Games\Skyrim <====== Try to delete Skyrim.ini and SKyrimprefs.ini. The game will remake them.

No error message in the event viewer?

I know what the .ini things are I just though you mean a certain few .ini needed deleting.

I've made a tweak to archery so I'm not deleting them. before you think this might have caused it, the ctd when sleeping in an inn or player home and waiting started happening before I done the tweak so no it's not the cause. :)

it doesn't matter anyway. I can live with it. I just wanted to know if there was a way to stop it but it looks like thats a no so I'll ask for this to get locked.
