Using console to change characters perks.

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 11:16 pm

i am playing a thug character and I'd really like to have that Charisma gunpoint pacyfing perk, thoough I also enjoy for first time ever playing with low charaisma where I rarely get to talk ppl into doing stuff for me and am forcced to find another way around xD So i figured i could maybe use cheats to add the perk withouth rising charisma

I am just worried it might cause some bugs or some other malfuctions, would it be safe for me to do this or better not try ?

In past Bethesda games, using the console to add/remove perks or to tweak character stats hasn't usually caused too many problems. When you start using it to manipulate quest stages and outcomes is when you start getting into trouble. Having said that, it's a brand new game, so who knows?

I would highly recommend making a hard save before you start playing around with the console, so you can roll back if it does screw something up.

O yeah saving goes without saying :P I was worried about some effects that i might discover after sme time and will have to load up a big chunk of gameaplay :P I understand taht boosting my stats a bit probably woulnd cause anything, I am just worried about it cause I would have the perk without having the required charisma for it. Just wanted to see what others think before I try :P

That's a good question. New Vegas was the only Fallout entry to give me problems, so much so that I quit using the console completely and just installed a cheat terminal to accomplish all the character twisting. FO3, otoh, is rock-solid for me, no matter how much I abuse it, but I still would avoid giving perks before hitting the necessary level, or without the proper SPECIAL points.
