Using Surplus Dragon Souls

Post » Tue Mar 12, 2013 5:02 am

Most folks who have finished the main quest and learned all the shouts now have a bunch of Dragon Souls with nothing meaningful to spend them on.

I have up to 20 at last count and the dragons keep coming

It would be great if Bethesda came up with a good way of allowing people spend the surplus dragon souls we have piling up.

What if for instance we were able to use the extra souls collected to reduce the cooldown time on shouts.

So for Fus -Ro-Dah You could use 3 souls to upgrade the shout to a version with lower cooldown

That would soak up a bunch of souls by the time you did it for all 20 shouts

If you're on PC... I use a mod called Dragon Knowledge that lets you spend 4 dragon souls to gain a perk point.

id be for spending them on extra things after main stuff is all done..like maybe slight improvements to health and stamina etc...dont want to overpower it too much but at the same time theres a lot of extra DLC content added and it would be a nice way for players to feel like they can still "level up" even if they end up maxed out in levels by then

You could maybe pull a greybeard and teach the greybeard some shouts and open up a new faction for the greybeards

You can use them in Dragonborn: Click to reveal

Spoiler
After a certain point, you can use Dragon Souls to reset individual perk trees - refunding your perk points back to you to allow you to re-spec.

I"ve had the original 'Souls for Perks' mod when it came out, as my character was level 71 and with 55 dragon souls unused. I'm surprised that Beth didn't factor that into the game rather than create Legendary Skilling.

it would be very welcome in my book...and rather necessary too imo as the shouts are all quite weak compared to their power in lore..

Bethesda plans on a way to remedy this with patch 1.9 to lower the number of dragon attacks and patch 1.10 with adding a new dragon soul feature.
