@ BlindGuardian: I think you just get the opportunity to buy pink running shoes.
To all who like the fatman, don't use a loot overhaul mod. I have two mininukes at hand with lvl 29 (I had 14 in my first play at that lvl), hardly enough to enjoy the fatty. I however have an insane tendency to hit mininukes on charging supermutants. I wish my aim were as good in other circumstances.
I think mini-nukes should be the one weapon in the game that permanently destroys property. So if you use them to clear an outpost then you can never go back to farm it. Kids need to learn that nukes are bad, otherwise the next generation of drone pilots might grow up thinking it's OK to use a tactical nuke on a wedding party.
KIll a mutant suicider befiore he kills you, most of the time you can loot a mini nuke, npn
I am surprised you had to buy the Fat Man. I have looted at least three of them plus there is one
I've fully cleared only 35 locations and Ive already found 5 fatmans during exploring, admittedly I have found 135 locations.
But sometimes it is: Oh look a suicider. Wait, there are four other dudes around.
....taking careful aim at the right hand
I never thought about killing the suicide mutants to take their mininuke...it's just so satisfying to shoot the nuke
I'm disappointed with the Fat Man's in FO4. I recall them being far more powerful in FO3, though that may be inaccurate.
At level 68, I do 505 damage with my legendary freezing Gauss sniper rifle ("Magna Comet") and that is definitely in the ballpark of the mini-nuke, depending on your perks, difficulty, etc. Why would I even bother with a Fat Man?
I think the game would be more satisfying if mini-nukes did about 5 times as much damage and had a blast radius several times larger than they are. I once tested one in Sanctuary, shot a turret that couldn't have been more than 15 paces away (probably more like 10 pace) = took no damage!?
The mini-nuke is more like a "Mega-Grenade" than a miniature nuclear bomb.
The fact they do not destroy anything in the landscape (structures, plants, rocks) is also dissatisfying but I can give Bethesda a pass on that.
I'm also disappointed at the railroad rifle, junk jet, flamer and some of the other special legacy designs. I can recall in some playthroughs in FO3 the Railroad rifle was my definite go to gun, the damage and effectiveness was superb (this was with the mod that allowed weapon modding and added a ton of other guns . . . Fallout Wanderer's Edition was it?). In FO4, even once fully upgraded, these special weapons are only about as effective as your standard modded up assault rifle or combat rifle.
You can buy mini nukes from max level weapon merchants that you put in your settlement. No idea if they are available from the lower level stores.
Bah, smart computer for the win! That mod is just too fun.
I actually have so many fat mans and miniguns that I handed a few to my provisioners. With a couple of nukes each. As I said, I see no use for them, since artillery strikes do the job in a much nicer and more boomworthy way.
Depends on who was getting married. If it was Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt renewing their vows, I'd buy the drone myself.
What I recall from FO3 was direct hitting several different targets with mininukes and they weren't killed outright. What kind of nuke, mini or otherwise, doesn't kill EVERYTHING at the point of impact? Nor do mininukes leave behind radioactive hotspots. Effectively, all a mininuke is is a souped up missile.
You are probably correct that the mini-nuke in FO3 wasn't too much different. I may be confusing it with the whole "Nuke Megaton" event . . .
As far as I know, even a small nuclear bomb produces a zone of heat hotter than the surface of the sun, with the heat dropping off substantially with increasing distance from the center of the device at the time of its detonation. Even the Terminator should be vaporized by a direct hit from a mini-nuke.
Chuck Norris could survive it, by intimidating it into submission

Yes and if you click them together, they'll send you back to Kansas.
It's not a normal Fatman, it's the Big Boy what the OP bought. A legendary thingy that throws two mininukes at once for the price of one if I remember correctly.
