Hi all,

I'm a very new newbie here so please excuse if I ask some silly questions. I have recently purchased Fayrulli a bay mare and have enjoyed getting used to riding her. I have finally decided to set out on a great journey to visit all the towns and cities in Oblivion, and on the way hopefully gain the recommendations needed to access the Arcane University. Will there come a point where I can attain the skill to be able to use weapons and or spells while mounted or will I always have to dismount for battle?

Not without a mod (PC only obviously). There was one that came out years ago, but I never used it. A quick google should turn it up on the Nexus or PES.

One thing I do that I like a lot, as my character travels everywhere on horse, is to equip plenty of detect life range items (they stack) when riding. My elf rides with 360 feet of detect life gear (overkill). That way she can see foes before they see her and choose whether to bypass them or dismount and sneak up to attack them.

Thanks for the answers. I play on X-Box 360 so no mods for me. I guess I will just have to keep dismounting to take out the bad guys.

I like the detect life idea - I will make sure to use that when I get the opportunity to acquire some detect life gear (or make it later on).

Being able to fight while on horseback would had been soooo nice. Too bad they didn′t implement that feature.
