So they are doing work on the Ironsides, reworking the woodwork and all that. Supposedly the work being done should keep it "fresh" for another 200 years. But could this be it? Did Bethesda, in reality, know something about what they were doing? Are they about to strap rockets on it? The world man never know... At least for the next year in which time they should/maybe be done on the restoration...

I'm going with in the Fallout universe by 2077 they had perfected a new super sealant spray on treatment that plasticized the wood making it nearly immune to mold, dry rot, bubbling, and termites.

It also strengthen the wood and provided a perfect under coat for nearly any paint.

Of course once the treatment was proven, nearly anyone with any wooden construction went out and had it done especially up north.

The USS Constitution of course received the high pressure deep restoration treatment making the wood twice as strong as when the ship was built.

And that is why you can find 200 year old wooden houses that survived a nuclear winter and are still standing.

It is also why you can find the remains of wooden houses after 200 years.

That....makes a lot of sense.
