Uthgerd's House: Safe Storage?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 2:40 pm

My evil self-serving mage does not want to pay for a home in Whiterun... no. He would never give that swine Jarl a septim, he only receives payment for slaying bandits (cuz he does it for fun anyway). Anyway, Sven has finally met his end as my mage's meat shield so I picked up Uthgerd as my new one... I'm eyeballing her house and want it to be mine, but I want make sure I get some usage out of her. When she inevitably dies on one of our escapades, and she will die by my hand or by someone else's, I plan on taking ownership of her property. Can I store things safely there? My mage hates Whiterun, personally. It's not eeevvvviiillll enough. But, he wouldn't mind having a central place to store things, at least while he lives above the surface of the earth.

From UESP
Only a few containers are safe for storage, there has been no confirmation on which ones.
And stuff respawns there every 10 days that go by without you entering the house.

Bleh. Well, the respawning is convenient for the food (maybe I could pretend that it's my evil mage's mom popping in on secret visits to make sure sonny boy is fed), but I wouldn't be able to decorate with human skulls like I was hoping to do. Oh well... Still Uthgerd will die, house or not... muhuhahahaha!

You may want to try Anise's Cabin, has a very evil feel to it and it has safe storage (the containers are marked as 'steal from' but your items are unaffected). You will have to dispose of her first, then you have a cabin with a basemant, containing an alchemy and enchanting table.

Yeah, I murdered her before she even had a chance to tell me that she was just an innocent old woman... then I dumped her body in the river.

The chests do re-spawn, found that out the hard way. Not sure how long it takes though. Lost a lot of items that I had stored in the downstairs chest, so now I just use the bed upstairs to get a Rested bonus.

I have been using Uthgerd’s furniture for storage, but not her chests, barrels, or sacks. Her house makes a great rental (for those who are not quite so murderous), just get her as a follower, swap her key for a reasonable rent in gold, then part ways.

I’d say go for the skull decorations. Maybe you can place them around the objects that are already there. The worst that could happen is you lose some skulls.

Uthgerd's House: Safe Storage?
I married her. So yes, it's safe for me. Plus, she's never there. Ever. Always at the pub. So, i got me a nice house for free. In fact, she even pays me 100 septims a day to keep the fire going. I'm happy ...
