Uutak Genesis

Greetings
Greetings scholars of the Elder Scrolls Universe. My name is LaJaveyon Saunders, but on the internet everyone mostly calls me IceFireWarden (or Taskmaster; I'm pretty associated with the Daedric Prince of Pestilence).
Some of you have probably heard about my Uutak pieces. Some of you have probably not, but before I post my Uutak Genesis series I wanted to make a little introduction Uutak in general.
What Is Uutak?
Uutak is a series of Apocrypha/monkeytruth written by myself about the Echmer, a group of Betmer that exist on the twin islands collectively known as Yneslea. The Echmer themselves are evolved from primitive bats, due to the ancient tonal architecture of the Dwemer mostly by accident. It follows the story of multiple protagonists, but mainly focuses on the High Hypothesian known as Inati from the Fifth Era. His endeavors within the Mundus, while also questioning the Law of his people and his own beliefs even when he is not the focus character drives the voice of Uutak.
I also wrote something for C0DA (which was co-made by Michael Kirkbride), a comic strip where Vivec knows HRAHNDEYL is coming for him.
Currently, the new project is Uutak Genesis.
What is the purpose of Uutak Genesis?
I'm currently writing the Uutak Genesis series to solidify the Uutak universe, and introduce new readers to Yneslea and the Echmer in general. Each installment focuses on one major aspect of Uutak, from the Echmer to their home to their gods. In more clearer terms, these act as guides to the entirety of the series, making the core series more understandable.
And that it is. I'm IFW, and I hope you all enjoy Uutak Genesis. Here's an Ovaltine for the taking the time to read this.

UUTAK GENESIS: ECHMER
“It exists because it is fact. Without fact, reality has no concept and is thus null.” – Echmeri Philosophy
The Echmer (/EK-MER/Ech-mer), which means the “Echo Folk” or the “People of Echoes”, are a race of Betmer that inhabit the isles of Yneslea. While they never met, the Ayleids knew of them as the Echiche. It is unknown what the Yokudans, Atmorans, or the Akaviri called them, but obscure texts that can be found in Tamriel suggests that the four groups met in on various occasions in times immemorial.
They are a naturally shy but extremely intelligent race. Well versed in science and academics, it is of importance to note that the Echmer as a whole frown down upon the use of the arcane arts, and prefer using their ‘reflected sounds’ instead. These Reflected Sounds are actually a mutated form of ancient Dwemeri tonal architecture. The Echiche should know about the Deep Folk more than anyone, even the Chimer – for if what they say is true, they were actually taught everything they know by the Dwemer.
Anatomy
A major misconception is that the Echmer are literal elves. However, they are only ‘Mer’ by right of name. While they do resemble elves in appearance, they are in fact the modern descendants of ancient bats that evolved into more merish forms. This ‘evolution’ was caused by Dwemeri tonal architecture, which turned their souls from white to black and increased their intelligence and growth.
Echmer generally stand at a height of five to six feet and weigh around two hundred to three hundred pounds. Naturally slim and well muscled, they are stronger in strength than the actual Mer races besides the Orsimer. The skin of an Echmer is usually a dark caramel tone, with light fur ranging from various shades of brown, grey, white, or black covering it. An Echmer’s face still closely resembles the face of a bat, protruding forwards in a snout. Their ears are larger but closer in shape to that of an elf’s, allowing them to hear exceptionally well. They have four finger hands with opposable thumbs, and four claws on each foot along with a back claw that allows them to hang from the ceiling.
Side Note: The Echmer are not blind, but have terrible day vision (the light from the sun is to bright for their pupils, as they live mostly in the dark caverns underneath Yneslea). They mostly use echolocation (their reflected sounds) to travel in environments.
The most remarkable physical detail of the Echo People is their wings. Resembling those found on a typical Tamrielian bat, they are joined to the forearms of the Echmer and are typically folded down on their back, making them resemble a cloak when not in use. Although the Echmer are incapable of sustained flight, they are able to glide very well.
The Echo People give birth to live young after nine months, similar to the other races of Nirn, with three to five offspring at one time (it is rare for an Echmer to give birth to one child, and is considered an example of ‘bad genes’ in their culture). The typical Echiche lives to about one hundred and fifty years of age. Their hair becomes silkier the older they get.
Echmeri Subspecies
The Echmer are separated into four main subspecies.
  • Hemaechi – The Hemaechi are the only Echmeri that drink blood for nourishment.
  • Entoechi – The Entoechi are the only Echmeri that hunt and kill insects for nourishment.
  • Pomiechi – The Pomiechi are the only Echmeri that gather and consume frit for nourishment.
  • Lactechi – The Lactechi are the only Echmeri that harvest Yak milk for nourishment.
History
Origins
At sometime during the Merethic Era, a clan of Dwemer split off from their brethren on the island known as Vvardenfell for unknown reasons and sailed east across the Padomaic Ocean and settled on the twin isles that would eventually be known as modern day Yneslea. As the Dwemer began to construct their factories and underground fortresses, they discovered species of bats within the caverns. Not viewing them as anything particularly interesting, the Dwemer continued on their buildings.
These bats, however, were very attuned to the vibrations of sound and became attracted to the Dwemer and their use of tonal architecture in their experiments, as well as the noise created by their machinery. As the years went by, these bats found themselves slowly becoming something different than what they used to be. The Deep Folk noticed this change, and immediately began rounding up as many of the bats that they could find and examined them. They found this ‘evolution’ to be fascinating, and sought to see if these bats could be considered sentient by their newfound metamorphosis.
Staging them as Trials, the Dwemer began to teach these evolved bats how to read and write, use arithmetic practically, and the fundamentals of the universe. The bats became wiser and stronger by the day, and soon the Deep Folk began to use them as a workforce, teaching them how to maintain their machinery while the Dwemer focused on more important experiments. It was around this time that the bats created the term Echmer as a name for their people, the ‘Echo Folk’.
The Echmeri became not only the pseudo-slaves of the Dwemer, but also their students in their fields of study. However, the Echo Folk found themselves at a crossroads over many of the things that the Dwemer were teaching them. Unlike their masters, they viewed greater beings known as the ‘Et’ada’ as wise beings of power. They also didn’t believe that transcending the mortal plane was a feat fully capable at the time. Despite this, the Echmeri continued doing the Dwemer’s tasks.
Until one day the Dwemer disappeared. The Echmeri continued doing their daily duties, wondering if their masters had traveled to another part of the caverns for some new experiment. And they waited. And they continued waiting. No one knows how long the Echmer actually waited for the Dwemer to return, but eventually their leaders revealed that they believed that their masters had abandoned them. The leaders decided that now the Echmer would be the masters, and they will create their own works and produce their own experiments.
With that, the Echmer began to study and rewrite the Dwemer’s notes. They began to venerate the gods (as their Collective of ATEDA), and built shrines in their honor. They reversed-engineered many of the automatons and fortresses, recreating them from scratch to fit their own tastes. They even made excursions to the surface to gather material for use, enslaving the goblin-like Hyu-Ket (however, after the Hyu-Ket began to die off dramatically they freed them out of a mixture of horror and scientific purpose).
No longer would the Echmer be in the Dwemer’s shadows. Now, the Dwemer would be in theirs.
Disputed Information
It is implied that the inhabitants of Atmora, Yokuda, and Akavir encountered the Echmer in ancient times. Tamrielian scholars have anolyzed texts written about these events for years, with some examples as follows:
“…It was here that the crew of the Brahtmiir discovered even newer horrors, as they were attacked by tribes of savage bat-men whose Voices rivaled their own Tongues in both elegance and power…” – Excerpt From ‘Songs of the Return, Volume 38: The Nigh Lost Tale of the Brahtmiir’
“The talk-demons – with their wings of darkness – had no trouble reaching the shores of Kamal, but the ice daemons found it difficult to follow them back to their lands…” – Incomplete Inscription On A Statue Within Tonenaka
“The Ra Gada had encountered many demons and vanquished each in turn, from the goblins of Malooc to the bat gods of the eastward waters…” – Ancient Yokudan Text Found In Hammerfell
  • Because these texts were written in times that have been lost to memory, scholars have criticized most of what they say. For example:
  • The Nordic Songs of the Return, Volume 38: The Nigh Lost Tale of the Brahtmiir mentions that the Companions met a group of ‘bat-men’. However, the Echmer resemble Mer in appearance. Also, the Thu’um was not useable at that point of time by the Nords, making the use of the words ‘Tongues’ and ‘Voices’ mysterious.
  • Within Tonenaka (an Akaviri shrine that can be found in Rimmen) lies a statue that resembles a humanoid bat with its arms wide open and fangs bared with the inscription found above at its base. However, there is no reason why Tsaesci has any information on the Kamal in their shrine.
  • Finally, it is widely known that the ancient Yokudan pantheon is practically endless. Hell, they have a god of we have to many gods. Thus, these ‘bat gods’ that they speak of can simply be regular Yokudan gods. The only thing that states otherwise is the ‘eastward waters’ part, with Yneslea being in the east.
  • An important detail, which is found in all three pieces, notes the Echmer as tribal and gruesome. However, those traits do not fit the Echmer not in the slightest. Because of this, the integrity of these accounts is heavily scrutinized.
Annexation Into The Third Empire
During Uriel Septim’s Akaviri Campaign, the islands of Yneslea (at that time they bore no name) came into contact with the Imperial Fleet. The Tamrielians stormed the island that would be known as future Yne, where they discovered Echmeri workers mining Solarite. After bringing these men back to the Emperor, the Echmer explained that the Echmer were in control of the two islands. When Uriel asked the workers for the name of the islands, he allowed them to leave to report to the Council of Dull Chimes for an appropriate answer, and returned to the Emperor with the names of Yne and Slea. The Tamrielians combined the two, naming the conjoint isles Yneslea and formerly adding it to the Empire.
After the Akaviri Campaign ultimately failed, TEM left the island of Yneslea and nearly forgot about it. The Echmeri still traded with the Empire, selling their expensive cream products in exchange for Tamrielic lore. The Echmeri also have an Ambassador that travels to the Imperial City to report on the status of the island. However, as of the Fourth Era, this has become less frequently and is now considered rare. It appears that the islands have become isolationist in nature now.
Current Events
[REDACTED]
Philosophy
Unlike the Dwemer, the Echmer worship deities (their pantheon, the Collective of ATEDA, consists of a combination of Aedra, Daedra, and other Spirits). However, they only worship these spirits core ideals, refusing to believe in anything that is even considered loosely associated with an ATEDA ‘useful’. That sentence neatly sums up the Echmeri way of life. In order for the Echmer to believe in something, they must have proof that such something exists. In their own words:
“It exists because it is fact. Without fact, reality has no concept and is thus null.”
Thus, the ATEDA exist because they can prove that they do. The Echmer exist because they can prove that they do. If it can’t be proven, it is not important to an Echmer. Because of this, lies (unless the lie is told for a good reason) and wishes are frowned down upon heavily in Echmeri culture. They also treat promises extremely seriously, with the person making the promise being engraved with a mark showing that they will uphold their promise. The mark is only healed after the promise has been upheld as well.
Personality
Despite being a strict people, the Echmer are very liberal in several places in their culture. However, the only thing that is not liberal is the Law. The Law is the code of the entirety of the Echmeri people, the verse that they live by.
They are cynical, sarcastic, and slightly arrogant in their studies. Echmer are also extremely competitive in their Trials, however they display this competitiveness calmly and patiently, which makes them deadly.
Conclusion
And we are concluded. Now you know about the Echmeri people. Look out for Part II: Yneslea, for information on their home.

UUTAK GENESIS: YNESLEA

“Yneslea. In Echi, it means ‘Echoing Mirror.’ But I mostly call it home.” – Inati

In the swirling mists of the Padomaic Ocean lie the twin isles Yne (Reverberate) and Slea (Glass) known conjointly as Yneslea (Echoing Mirror), the homeland of the Echmer. A strange place of semi-tropical climate, to some it is a mysterious plot in the sea. For others, it is just an island not worth mentioning. But for the Echmeri, it is the most beautiful of places, and its’ sound ‘feeds’ the choir of the universe.
Geography and Landscape
Yneslea is unique amongst most islands; while the surfaces of the islands is very stunning in landscape, the Echmeri themselves (due to their bat ancestry) live within the massive cavern systems underneath them. Yne and Slea themselves are connected underground because of these caverns, but are separated on the outside by the Channel of Tru’Gitet. Each island is host to three distinct regions.
Yne
Shaped vaguely like a curved capital ‘E’, Yne is the first island in the Yneslea group. It is the ancestral home of the Hemaechi and Entoechi Echmer clans.
The Hae’macrin Mountains
The Hae’macrin Mountains are the northernmost region of the island. Its boundaries are roughly NOCKT’s Mere (a naturally occurring freshwater lake) and the Descender that leads to the Urb Mkikeff’lorisaz. It is the only place that snow and ice can be found in the entirety of Yneslea, and is considered the least hospitable of all biomes. Of particular note is the Begetter’s Hillock, an ancient hill where a solitary Dwemer aboveground ruin stands.
Opal Coast
The Opal Coast is a region that covers the western and central parts of the island. Its boundaries are the Descender that leads to the Urb Tije’geutsaz and the Obelus of HRAHNDEYL. A cross between a beach and a prairie, and dotted with palm trees, it is the most beautiful part of Yne.
Ambient Littoral
The Ambient Littoral is comprised of the eastern and southern portions of Yne. Its boundaries are Whisper Pass and the Descender that leads to the Urb of Oexra’numsaz. It consists of a coastal taiga that thrives on saltwater, and the main source of wood on the island. Strangely, it is also rich in multiple Solarite ore veins.
Slea
Shaped vaguely like an inverted and fattened capital ‘F’, Slea is the final island in the Yneslea group. It is the ancestral home of the Pomiechi and Lactechi Echmer clans.
Gtutur’s Arids
Gtutur’s Arids is the northernmost expanse of the island of Slea, and named after HRAHNDEYL’s father who carried the god through them as a child. It is abundant in Solarite ore, which usually occurs in hot climates. Its boundaries are The Father’s Nest and the Descender that leads to the Urb of Gratiu’tiusaz.
The Melodic Forests
The Melodic Forest consists on both the eastern and western sides of Slea. Its boundaries are MORRAH’s Eye and Lingua. It is also home to the Descender that leads to the Urb of Furq’mitysaz. This region is moderately covered in trees and other vegetation.
Urroal
The region of Urroal lies in the southern part of Slea. Unlike it’s sister island Yne, whose south is warm, Urroal provides only a cool breeze. It does, however, have a constant threat of thunderstorms and hurricanes. Its boundaries are the Precipice of Banishment and the Descender that leads to the Urb of Raz’xensaz. It’s a barren wasteland, with few vegetation and almost constant rain.
Descenders
Because the Echmer live beneath their islands, there are hardly any aboveground cities. However, the Echmeri do travel to the surface of Yne and Slea in order to cultivate food and watch after their livestock, as well as mine the valuable mineral Solarite. To make these excursions to the surface easier, they converted the Dwemeri elevators into massive self-heating steam lifts (that harness the natural lava flows within the island), that uplifts them on their wings. There are three Descenders on each island that lead to their respected Urb (city).
Yne
  • Mkikeff’lorisaz
  • Tije’geutsaz
  • Oexra’numsaz

Slea

  • Gratiu’tiusaz
  • Furq’mitysaz
  • Raz’xensaz
Points of Interest
These are the various points of interest that can be found throughout Yneslea, on both islands.
Yne
  • NOCKT’s Mere – A naturally occurring freshwater pool, entranced with constant shadow.
  • Begetter’s Hillock – The remnants of a Dwemer home. It is used mainly for pilgrimages, and is being preserved to negate decay.
  • Obelus of HRAHNDEYL – A large rune that symbolizes the Talk God and his second death as he ascended from mere mortal to godhood.
  • Whisper Pass – An ancient dried up river that was used by Akaviri forces during one of their attacks on Yneslea. They were successfully driven back into the sea, and an Akaviri katana embedded in the ground marks the site of the battle.
Slea
  • The Father’s Nest – The place where Gtutur slept for fifteen nights and passed on the last one. Supposedly, HRAHNDEYL buried his father in this exact spot, but Echmeri scholars refute this because the body has never been found.
  • MORRAH’s Eye – A large natural indent in the ground that resembles a large eye. It is associated with MORRAH because the Eye is his symbol.
  • Lingua – A minor volcano that hasn’t erupted in many centuries.
  • Precipice of Banishment – All the way to the south of Slea, the Precipice of Banishment is used for the execution of violators of the Law.
Inhabitants
The Dwemer
Known to the Echmer as the Begetters, in unknown times a clan of Dwemer made their way to Yneslea after a schism with their Vvardenfell cousins. As they built their underground cities, the Dwemer encountered bats that were unintentionally evolved by their tonal architecture, resulting in the creation of the modern day Echmer. In a strange way, these Dwemer can be considered the ‘parents’ of the Echmer. Under Dwemeri tutorage (after the former realized that the bat people were now sentient), the Echmer began to learn much about the nature of Nirn. However, the Echmer secretly believed that the gods should be worshipped, unlike their masters. After the Dwemeri disappearance, the Echmer eventually began to reverse-engineer their architecture and adapt most of their practices to their own styles.
The Echmer
Yneslea’s most distinguished inhabitants, the Echmer are a race of beast folk that originated as multiple species of bats evolved by tonal architecture. They have strict – but liberal in many areas – society. The Echmer are unique because despite believing in both gods and faith (their Collective of ATEDA), they also only believe in things that exist as fact and has actual evidence supporting said facts. Because of this, they are a naturally mistrustful people unless convinced that what you are saying is absolutely true in its entirety. This also results in them viewing wishes in disdain, calling them ‘hollow words.’ Strangely, they do not mind lying if what you are lying for is important.
The Hyu-Ket
The Hyu-Ket is a race of insectoid goblins that inhabit small, primitive villages scattered across Yne and Slea. At one period of time, they were the slaves of the Echmeri people. However, when the work they were made to do began to kill many of their people, the Echmer freed them and allowed them back to the surface. They are carnivorous, and hunt the Yaks as their main source of food. In appearance, they are covered in coarse, bristle brown fur and have red fly-eyes. Some are still capable of speaking Echi. However, only around one hundred Hyu-Ket still exist in this current age.
Flora
Saltcane
A type of plant that resembles real-life bamboo, Saltcane grows along the coasts of Yne and Slea and are processed into salt for Echmeri cuisine. Its greenish-red stalks distinguish it from other plants.
Honeymell
The Honeymell is a type of flower with golden petals. It is naturally sweet, and its syrup is used for Echmeri cuisine and the making of cream. It can be found in forested areas on either island.
Harmonious Potare
A vile fungus, Harmonious Potare grows on both islands, on the surface or underground. It is extremely poisonous, but if used the right way can create a powerful healing potion (however, not performing the right steps can instantly kill the maker in the attempt).
Vet’fli Leaves
A type of shrub that consists of multiple extremely large leaves that grows on Yne. It is mostly eaten by the species of insects that live on that island.
Citri Trees
This type of tree only grows on the island of Slea. The fruit known as Citri can be found on its branches, and resemble a cross between a lemon and an apple and are pink in color.
Fauna
Yaks
The most important animal on both islands of Yneslea, the Yak is a livestock animal that the Echmer use to create their largest source of income for the Toilers (Working Class) – cream. Cream created from Yak milk is used to create types of wine, as well as ice cream (which became a major export to Tamriel after Yneslea was conquered in the Third Era). Many Yak farms can be found scattered across the islands of Yne and Slea. The animals themselves resemble shaggier versions of Tamrielian cows, with tan fur and massive grey horns. The Hemaechi also harvest Yak blood for nourishment.
Myriapods
These animals inhabit both Yne and Slea, but are largely more important on Yne. They have thousands of legs and an armored shell, range from a murky green color to a shiny black, and largely eat smaller insects. They are the major source of food for the Entoechi.
Burrow Wasps
Highly aggressive and slightly poisonous, Burrow Wasps are green and blue striped in color and construct hanging underground nests made from their own spittle. Their stingers carry a neurotoxin that can result in paralysis. They are also capable of diving beneath the ground when threatened; only to rise back up when their attacker has their back turned.
Yneslian Wolves
Yneslea is host to their own species of wolves, which are very similar to the wolves found on Tamriel. Bluish-grey in color, they are rather shy of the Echmer and have been domesticated and used as mounts by the Hyu-Ket. Feral Yneslian Wolves can be found still roaming parts of the island, however, and are known to attack travelers.
Bruorl
The Bruorl are absolutely terrifying creatures. Resembling the cross between a lizard and a troll, and entirely dark red in color with glowing yellow eyes, the Bruorl often live in surface caves. However – on occasion – they have been capable of digging into the Echmer Urbs belowground despite their low intelligence.
Miscellaneous
Solarite
A metal ore that can only be found on Yneslea, it can be refined into Solarite ingots that can then be used to craft the alloy that the Echmer use to create their mechanisms and automatons. It can only be found in areas that are directly hit by sunlight. It is the counterpart to Euphitrite, organic music that the Echmeri use to craft their armor and weaponry.
Port White-Gold and Fort Musicmoth
The abandoned Port White-Gold can be found on the island of Yne, left behind after Uriel Septim’s failed invasion attempt of Akavir. Fort Musicmoth was built to be the Imperial headquarters on Yneslea, and is a few miles from Port White-Gold. Both are actually in remarkably good condition, but look extremely out of place on the island.
Conclusion
And we are concluded. Now you know about the Echmeri people. Look out for Part III: HRAHNDEYL, for information on their most beloved god.

UUTAK GENESIS: HRAHNDEYL

“When Talk Dies It Makes A Mirror.”HRAHNDEYL

HRAHNDEYL, once known as simply Hrahndeyl and also known by the monikers the Raving Wanderer, Twice-Birthed-And-Thrice-Dead, and The Disciple, was a Talkmaster of the Council of Dull Chimes who ascended into literal godhood. The exact details of his birth are lost to time (there are many conflicting theories on it), but it is generally believed that he was born in the Urb of Mkikeff’lorisaz. Taking tutorage under many Echmeri professionals, he soon became the chosen apprentice of MORRAH himself. With the Genius Loci’s vast library of knowledge opened to him, HRAHNDEYL realized that the Echmer faith was flawed and needed to be repaired. He returned to his people, but was exiled for his ‘heresies’. HRAHNDEYL walked Nirn as a nomad, and traveled to many places and met many people. The Talkmaster eventually returned to Yneslea – albeit seemingly changed in both behavior and personality – and spoke for five days without rest about the future of Yneslea (at that time it was unnamed) and her people. And with those words, on the sixth day he ascended the Pleonastic Spire and pierced through the Black-Welkin as the God of Talk.
HRAHNDEYL’s ascension resulted in the Echmeri undergoing a religious and cultural reform, resulting in the Yneslea we have today. He also considered the greatest Talkmaster to have ever lived, and now embodies that station for eternity. He is the enemy of LYEDNHARH (also known as The Tutelary), the God of Silence.
[There are two main but conflicting accounts on the origin of HRAHNDEYL that can be found on Yneslea. Below are both the officially sanctioned history and the version that is considered heresy.]
Orthodoxy
[The events described below in this document are the official origin story of HRAHNDEYL, and promoted by the Council of Dull Chimes.]
His Godly Birth
HRAHNDEYL foretold of his own coming to a Blind-Eater (an Echmer who was born with ‘too much’ light within their eyes, resulting in permanent blindness and social ridicule) that lived in the Urb of Mkikeff’lorisaz. After asking the Blind-Eater a question, he knew that he had found a mortal that could be his father when he received the right answer. Using his godly power to breathe the blindness out of the Blind-Eater’s eyes, he renamed the man Gtutur and told him that he was going to be both his Father and his Brother, and herald the coming of HRAHNDEYL to the Echmer people. When Gtutur accepted the responsibility, HRAHNDEYL then descended from the Black-Welkin as a Pulsing Egg.
Gtutur then traveled the vast caverns of the Echmeri, preaching of the glories of HRAHNDEYL. The Chao Numen sent their most powerful lieutenants after Gtutur to stop him. CLAVIL sent the many-but-one monster known as the Minister, who HRAHNDEYL erased from existence after demanding it to tell him the name of infinity. TOSH sent the raving Clockwork Lady to tempt Gtutur, but HRAHNDEYL ended her by making her undergo voice self-stimulation. MERID sent the Bright, though HRAHNDEYL dimmed its rays by plunging it into the sea. After all these events were staged, HRAHNDEYL fell asleep within the Pulsing Egg and Gtutur came above the surface so the Talk God could listen to the lullaby of the darkness, resting in the rocky deserts for fifteen nights.
It was on the first night that NOCKT appeared to Gtutur, and told him that she was the mother of HRAHNDEYL and it was almost time for their son to hatch. She revealed that the Chao Numen were planning on attacking Gtutur’s camp and destroy the Pulsing Egg, and gave him the Talk Staff to defend the hatching of the Talk God. For the thirteen fourteen nights Gtutur defended the Pulsing Egg from legions of demons before succumbing to his injuries, but not before he destroyed the Chao Numen’s forces. As he laid dying, the Pulsing Egg completely hatched and HRAHNDEYL was born in his mortal form. He held his dying father’s hand until he expired, and then buried him beneath the soil, naming the region of his death Gtutur’s Arids. HRAHNDEYL was so full of sorrow of his Father’s death that he eventually shed the anger and sadness from his body violently so it would not cloud his purpose, and this shedding became his greatest enemy, LYEDNARH.
Heterodoxy
[The events described below in this document describe a very different origin story for HRAHNDEYL, and was discovered by the Cult of ALORKH.]
His Mortal Birth
The future god HRAHNDEYL was born in the Urb of Mkikeff’lorisaz to a Toiler by the name of Gtutur as his Father and a female Warrior-Vicar of the Cloth of NOCKT by the name of Valati as his Mother. The union of his parents was one that was frowned on by both of their Sects (Sect Ti and Sect Tur), as they had broken the ancient tradition of only bonding with those in your own familial clan. This resulted in the exile of the lovers, and they lived in the slums of the Urb. Valati was pregnant at the time, expecting the arrival of twin boys that she and her husband were going to name Hrahndeyl and Lyednharh.
He was born a brood of one, despite the clear signs that Valati was going to give birth to twins. However, Echmeri Error- Clinicians believed that the two fetuses merely fused into one (an extremely rare occurrence, but fully plausible one). When this occurs, the dominant fetus absorbs the lesser fetus, killing it. As she gave birth, Valati suffered complications and passed away into the Black-Welkin. Gtutur was stricken by the death of both his beautiful life and Lyednharh, but treasured his surviving son, Hrahndeyl, before dying himself from a fatal disease three years later.
Convergence
[The events described below in this document is commonly accepted by both Orthodoxy and Heterodoxy views.]
His Lives and Deaths
Hrahndeyl was adopted into another Sect and became interested in taking a technical profession, deciding to attend the Institute to avoid becoming a member of the Worker Class (which he blamed for both his parents deaths). He taught by many Pedagogues during his time at the Institute, where he became the most esteemed pupil in its history. However, all of that changed. To this day, no one knows what instigated this argument that temporary made Hrahndeyl mute for the first and only time in his mortal life:
Music without ears is silence. Place your mute ear to the soul and note there are no change. Uphold this fact of the Law.
I render that statement VOID. Music without ears is not silence; the person who is deaf just hears what you cannot. Place your mute soul to the ear and find the vibrations that follow.
This was the first time but not the last that Hrahndeyl challenged the Law. He was punished on multiple occasions for this, and blamed himself severely for leading his mind astray even though he wasn’t ashamed by this answer. It was around the fifth time that he began to hear the voice of his dead brother Lyednharh within his mind. His long thought dead sibling told him that through some estranged variable that he did not die when their fetuses merged, but became a second mind within their shared brain. He then advised Hrahndeyl to become a better him by accepting the Law. Hrahndeyl agreed with his sibling, and decided to allow his brother to take control of their body to avoid the both of them being sentenced by the Council of Dull Chimes.
This was the first time that Hrahndeyl ‘died’, as he killed his older personality to better fit in with the teachings of his Pedagogues and the Law itself. He graduated from the Institute with strong voice and rating, eventually going on to becoming a High Hypothesian and then a Talkmaster itself, the most respected vocation in the Echmeri technocracy.
Hrahndeyl’s (with the aid of Lyednharh’s advice) talk became so clear and commanding that one day even MORRAH was so compelled by it that he came down to Yneslea and took on the Echmer as his apprentice, giving him new words to make reflected sound with, and he and his brother tried to use these new words to better their people. However, the Echmeri believed these new words to be both blasphemous and dangerous; a sinister violation of the Law. And so they exiled Hrahndeyl from Yneslea for challenging the Law.
To this day no one really knows where Hrahndeyl and his brother went, but after many long years he returned to Yneslea with evidence of traveling to the North, South, East, and West, of meeting beings of places Not-Quite-There, of entering a Mouth which he Ate inside, of speaking to solid thoughts and talking legends, and even reaching the Starry Heart – a place long speculated as nonexistent. Hrahndeyl said he ‘died’ for the second time when he traveled to the South, a place he stated as a location no mortal should ever enter. However, he came back from the South with the sigil of royalty on his forehead, which he wore proudly as a symbol of his new understanding.
He proclaimed that in the future there would be a war between sound and mute, after the ‘land itself fell away into naught’. Hrahndeyl knew that the Echmeri people needed to be prepared for such an occurrence, and with those words he used his new understanding he had received from his experiences within solace and combined them with his own new and old words, anticipating everything and nothing at the same time, creating and ascending the Pleonastic Spire, and tore his way through the Black-Welkin and became HRAHNDEYL.
This was the third time Hrahndeyl ‘died’, his mortal body decaying as his immortal one began to flourish.
HRAHNDEYL ascended out of Love to combat the Hate being afflicted on his people by LYEDNHARH. He resides on top of the Spire while his enemy dwells within, awaiting the time where the two will have to fight for the last time.
I Love You But I Hate Me: CHIM and Anti-CHIM
HRAHNDEYL, during his mortal life as Hrahndeyl, was originally fueled by hatred for his fellow Echmeri and the entire Macrocosm after they called his research unfounded and blasphemous. After being exiled from Yneslea for violating the Law, he wandered Nirn searching for the perfect evidence that would prove that he was right. After meeting and traveling to places long forgotten and well known, Hrahndeyl realized that the perfect answer he was searching for was in the South – Aldmeris. This would be his undoing. Aldmeris is lost in time for a reason, for it is the Perfect Place. However, one cannot reach a Perfect Place without realizing the imperfections within themselves. Hrahndeyl was the closest mortal to ever come close to finding Aldmeris, and that caused him to become displaced in time like it is. With time shattered around him, Hrahndeyl found himself briefly outside the Wheel and saw it as an ‘I’. On that day he attained CHIM, being able to say I AM AND I ARE ALL WE. This caused Hrahndeyl to forget about all the Hate he was holding onto, replacing it with the Love to help his people.
Lyednharh (the dormant remains of Hrahndeyl’s twin brother) saw this event differently though. Fueled by love, Lyednharh believed that his brother should be trying to share his research openly instead of forcing it upon the Echmeri. However, during the temporal time displacement that caused the brothers to be removed briefly from time, Lyednharh found himself within the Wheel and thought he was the ‘I’. He saw multiple and hideous errors throughout the Macrocosm, and became disgusted by it. On that day, he attained Anti-CHIM, being able to say I AM AND YOU ARE ALL ME. This replaced Lyednharh’s Love with Hate, and he became the antithesis to his brother.
The Pleonastic Spire
The Pleonastic Spire is one of the mythical Towers, the devices that uphold the Aurbis. It is the Tower of the Echmeri people, and reflects their Anuic/Akaic view on the universe, and is a echo of the Ur-Tower Adamantine. It is made from organic sound, and is in the center of the Yneslea underground.
It was created by Hrahndeyl as he ascended heaven through violence by way of the Prolix Tower (Dracochrysalis) and pierced his way back to the Black-Welkin, becoming the Genius Loci of Talk HRAHNDEYL. Because the two brothers shared a body, Lyednharh also achieved apotheosis as an unfortunate byproduct of the process, becoming the Genius Loci of Silence LYEDNHARH. This allowed him to escape the body of his brother and become his own being. While HRAHNDEYL resides at the top of the Pleonastic Spire as its Creator, LYEDNHARH resides within it as its Stone.
Black-Welkin
The Black-Welkin is the Echmeri term for the Void, which is their afterlife. When they die, they believe that their souls become the sounds of darkness and help stabilize the Macrocosm. HRAHNDEYL resides within the Black-Welkin, with the rest of the ATEDA guarding it. LYEDNHARH repeatedly tries to access the Black-Welkin, but HRAHNDEYL repels his invasions every time. However, it is hinted by the Talk God’s Vicars that he grows weaker with every attack while his brother grows stronger.
What happens when Talk loses to Silence?
