Uvirith's Grave

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2009 7:07 pm

I found out where it is, but I see no actual "grave"... if there isn't a grave, the what is the reason or lore behind Uvirith's Grave??

( I put this in Spoilers, but wasn't sure if it went under spoilers or lore)

according to several members of the telvanni, some guy named uvirith built a tower there but had it sink into the lava. Needless to say, he died in the process.

Did he have a background story? Was he evil, good, or a purpose for the tower? And how it "sunk" into the lava?

If you're not in House Telvanni, then "Tel Uvirith" will be inhabited by some Reynel Uvirith.

ask a telvanni about the site.

we don't know much about him. It most likely sank due to instabilities in the ground. There may have been a lava tube underneath the site for all we know.

ask a telvanni about the site.

I checked the CS. I could find no such quotes. Is it possible it could come from a mod?

The much enjoyed, Building Up Uvirith's Grave spread the legend of the tower being so big and vain, it fell into a nearby lava pool.

Canon legends of its demise are not featured in vanilla Morrowind.

Strangely enough, there is another Uvirith, but she is Redoran. Ulyno Uvirith is her full name, and she resides in the Redoran Canton of Vivec.
They sure make use of their names, don't they.

For some reason, I just pictured the Telvanni Stronghold lady saying this:

"They said we were crazy to grow a tower in the Molag Amur, but we did it anyway. It was blown over by an ashstorm. So we grew a second one! It was blown over by an ashstorm. So we built a third one. It got too tall, fell over, then burned up in a lava pit. BUT THE FOURTH ONE STAYED UP! And that's what you're getting, %PCName. The strongest tower on the Isle!"

There probebly used to be a minor house Uvirith at some point, and when it dissolved some members went to Redoran and some to Telvani. That would explain why the same name can be found in two rival houses.

Or it could be that the five houses aren't the only families in Morrowind. There are many more, but belonging to a great house is so useful that a lot of people join one of the five. After all, there has to be some precedent of nonaligned dunmer joining the Great Houses for there to be a precedent, so foreigners can also join.

Any place in Molag Amur could be someone's grave if they aren't careful.
