[WIP] Uvirith's Legacy

Post » Mon Sep 27, 2010 8:04 pm

That happens in the stock game too - the long-term levitation granted at one of the vivec shrines will immediately expire if you use mage guild teleportation.

Funny - I was just playing this afternoon, and got that blessing from the MoT shrine, and it didn't expire when I used the guild guides. Although, I do have MCP and MPP, so that may be why. If MCP or MPP could fix it for the guild guides, perhaps there is a way to fix it for the Uvirith Travel Ring?

Huh, I must of been mistaken. I also just rechecked that with both MCP and MPP loaded and unloaded, and the spell did not expire immediately. The last time I remember that happening it must of been a timing thing where the spell had expired on its own just as I was using the mage's guild guide - or maybe it was because I teleported to Mournhold... in any case, I retract that statement as it's obviously disproved.

I was under the impression that time actually did pass when I used the travel ring, and I thought Stuporstar confirmed that in a long-ago post. I'll have to check it again next time I use the ring.

Instead of posting my entire readme here, I'm just going to link the webpage I've made devoted to the next version of UL. All the info is there, including the most up-to-date changelog that includes all the upcoming changes. For anyone completely new to this mod, it is a major stronghold mod for the Telvanni. All the features are too many to list here, but it's all covered in the web site.

http://roadhunter.com/~stuporstar/index.html

The next release is well underway and nearly complete. I've been taking a little break to finish off some of the other mods I've been working on (Books of Vvardenfell mostly), and I still need to make sure all the new content is running smoothly. Current ETA is sometime around mid-June.

Sounds good. I've been playing with a Warrior type character but I'm getting bored pretty quickly and I'm itching to do another Telvanni Mage... :D

Stuporstar, how did you fix the library from eating books. My Mori Mountain Estate mod library started doing the same thing and I think it may be the same problem your mod had experienced.

How do you get the quest from Baladas to gain Primus Plus as a companion? The UL website says it happens after "partial completion of the alchemy table quest". I've completed that quest without getting any other quest from Baladas. Just now I went back to him, opened up a dialogue, and found nothing relating to Primus or any other quest. What am I missing?

Spoiler
Did you give him "The Golden Dawn" book back?

Hey everyone, I'm finally back from my week in Cuba, where I've been driving around on mopeds getting sunburnt, smoking lots of cigars, drinking tons of rum, and getting eaten alive by bugs. It was great (except for the bug bites). Also, Old Havana was fantastic. I only wished I could have gotten more close-up pictures of the 400-500 year old walls and cobblestones to make a texture pack. I tried, but my crappy snapshot camera couldn't take a picture face-on of a surface without going out of focus, so all I came back with was pictures of the old buildings.

I stuck a non-carryable light in the containers. That's all you need to do. :)

And yes, I can confirm that the travel ring takes time, particularly if you're outdoors. Indoors it seems to work like a guild guide, outdoors more like a silt strider or boat. This difference seems to be hard-coded into the game.

Just wanted to mention that the final quests have been fully tested and I've fixed all the bugs I've found there. The mod is almost ready to go. I have to work the schedules mod into it and test everything again to make sure the merge went well.

Mainly I'm trying to finish the latest version of Books of Vvardenfell so that I can include them all in the library book sorter. I have a few more books to write. Once BoV 2.1 is released I'll do the final merging and testing and be ready to release. The books might take another couple of weeks though, since there have been lots of great ideas in the BoV thread and I want to make as many books as I can. So UL is kind of sitting on the back burner for the moment until I complete the other mod.

First of all, thanks for that great mod and I am really looking forward to its final release. I find myself playing only Telvanni characters at the moment because of Uvirith Legacy, even though I always was a Redoran supporter :-)

I dont know if it will bring some technical difficulties, but maybe it would be possible to release the final version earlier and offer a BoV-addon when you are finished with the books? So we can enjoy your mod sooner. Ah well never mind, its just the impatience speaking ^^

I'll probably merge the schedules mod while I'm working on BoV and test the mod with a fairly full play through, so that in itself will take some time. I want this mod to be as polished and bug free as I can muster for its final release. It's getting very close, but the added schedules might introduce some unexpected bugs when it's finally merged.

Wouldnt it be better if you were to release it just a bit early so multiple people can test for any bugs that may happen? Then again, I of course would probably want to do everything myself as well, hah.

The schedules add-on available has released separately for a while, so its been tested. I'm just doing some nitpicking for the most part. I'm finding a few minor bugs and dialogue mistakes that have never been reported because I suppose they're just too small to notice, but I notice, so I'm working all of those little bugs out. I learned my lesson years ago about releasing too soon without testing thoroughly beforehand.

Edit: I'm finding lots of little tiny errors, particularly in dialogue. Things like not having a contingent for the player not having enough gold in inventory when ordering builds and such are not good. This could cause encumberance bugs, but since most players are probably stinking rich at the point where they're building strongholds, it's not really come up as an issue. Nevertheless, little things like this are being fixed anyway.

Hi again, long time no see :)

I really like your homepage, it looks phantastic. And my fingers are itching again for playing. But just one question. I was reading through the faq-section and found "LGNPC Tel Uvirith 2.0"(!) mentioned. Is it just a typo and you actualle ment Version 1.2 or do you know something we/ I don't? :hubbahubba:
And I'm looking forward for the final release. :celebration:

Back when we were discussing the staff bonus for being awakened, I noticed that Almossaren accepts payment and delivers the shipments even if the player isn't carrying enough to cover it. Is this one of the things you're fixing? At the time, I figured that it would be more trouble than it was worth to add dialogue options to check for that, and by that point in the game the player would certainly have enough money, so if he wanted to cheat, let him. Since then I've thought of more efficient ways to handle it; if you haven't already come up with your own plan, PM me and I'll explain mine.

Yes, I just fixed that a couple days ago, as well as a couple of Eddie's chores which required the same gold check. Every one of the shipment payment responses now require the right amount of gold, otherwise it defaults to a new dialogue entry regarding the lack of funds.

I've run though one nearly complete test, and found lots of little things to fix. I also decided to overhaul Ash-Kosh's boredom count because it was acting a little flaky. I'm running through a fresh test with a brand new character on my faster computer now to make sure no timings are off on the recently modified scripts. The first test I ran through all the quests using the best responses. For this test I'm going to do a thorough run where I test every response and possibility. I found two pages of written notes worth of minor bugs on my first run, so I hope it's all worked out now, but I want to be sure.

And welcome back Boggart! You're right, that's a typo on the web site that will have to be fixed. Thanks for noticing. :)

It looks like I need to overhaul my companion scripting. The problems that have shown up on my newer computer are annoying enough that I want to get them fixed before release. This may take a while.

Just a little detail in dialog :whistling: :
If you talk to Meiree using the Tel Uvirith topic (I think, I'm not sure, I will check it tonight), she answers that it is nice having a teleport-platform and that she would like to visit Sadrith Mora, but with the whole Upper Tower to clean, she doesn't have any time off.
This answer is given even before the third phase of Tower Construction is finished.

Yeah, I noticed that as I was playing through on a new character. It's been fixed, along with lots of other little dialogue errors. :)

Thanks you! Just as an update I've completely overhauled the companion scripting, with Melian's help, and it's currently going through rigorous testing. I'm also checking out a few additional bug reports and still need to fully test Ash-Kosh's new boredom timer before I feel it's safe to release. But progress is happening.

Awesome. I can't wait for the next update.

I noticed on the NOM 3.0 thread that you were helping out with the mod. Does that potentially mean that UL will be compatible with 3.0 when it comes out?

Taddeus stated that he would be supporting mods that use older versions of NoM by not changing the IDs of any existing foods and other items, so it should still be compatible. I would like to add some of the new foods to UL, but that will perhaps have to be a patch for after NoM 3.0 comes out.

UL Update!

I have completely overhauled the final shipment quest. It no longer relies on making a specific choice in the East Empire Company questline. You no longer arrange shipments with the trader, but with one or the other leaders involved in the little EEC feud going on there. You can choose whichever side you want, and if you end up killing them both on your rise to power, you can talk with the guy who makes you Factor at the end. Also, if you become Factor, you get a 500 gold discount on the Solsthiem shipments.

I've been meaning to do this for a while. I don't want to limit people's roleplaying choices, and I also want people to feel that getting involved with the EEC quests actually have an effect on how the shipment deal goes down. Now, the cost will remain the same whether you choose Falco or Carnius, for different reasons. Carnius charges more up front, but Falco informs you that the amount of bribes it will take to ship supplies under Carnius' nose will affect the cost. So they both come out the same. After you become Factor, the discount will take effect automatically if you've already made the deal, or you can wait to arrange shipments then at the reduced cost. There's lots of different ways to go about it.
