V13 Timeline

Post » Wed Dec 01, 2010 11:24 pm

I was just curious as far as concept goes, what time period does V13 take place during? Before or after F1 & F2? This is one of those things that have been buggin me.

What timeframe would you guys like to see V13 fall under and why?

Another poster on here was saying he read somewhere that it would take place between Fo 1 & 2. I have no idea where he could have gotten that from, but it does seem like a good time to set a FO MMO. That timeframe would have the setting established but pre-date some of Fo2's out of place silliness.

Edit: Just read your name, haha, quite an appropriate question from "Chronokeeper"

Just to snip this one in the bud, we haven't released "when" V13 is set. There has only been some speculation.

"released", so that does mean you already have a time set. guess I will wait for the official announcement  Thanks for answering so promptly on this one and killing any rumors before they start.

Aye, I should have been more clear that that was total speculation.

I've also been thinking that after Fo2 would work pretty good for an mmo. You'd have factions such as NCR and Vault City vying for power etc. And it would make more sense for the increased population in the wasteland. I don't really think that's as big of a problem as some people make it out to be though. Even with a few thousand players per server, I don't see that as being "overpopulated" as I always imagined cities in fallout like the LA Boneyard to be sprawling and filled with tons of squatters beyond what was represented in the game anyway.

I understand V13 to just be an "mmorpg," whereas everyone else is saying that it IS the "fallout mmorpg" (in which nobody related to the project has confirmed, nor deny of course). I would love for it to be a modern mmorpg (as opposed to fantasy or medieval settings) even if it is unrelated to the Fallout timeline, basically because a setting of that nature hasn't been tapped well lately. So, returning to the topic at hand, a modern (post apocalyptic, of course) timeline would be great (especially one that is hundreds of years from now)...

PS: I know this is off topic, but please, PLEASE, stop regarding V13 as THE "fallout mmorpg" until Chris or anyone in gamesas confirms it is!

1. gamesas licensed the rights to a Fallout MMORPG from Bethesda when they sold the fanchise.
2. They announced that "management is working to secure funding for the development of a Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMOG) based on the popular "Fallout?" franchise"
3. They MUST begin development by April 2009 or they'll lose the Fallout Online license. How much sense would starting another MMORPG now make?
4. They rehired at least two of the original developers of Fallout.
5. They list "Familiarity with the Fallout? universe." as a job requirement in their Careers section.

Of course, if they don't make the financial requirements by April, they will lose the Fallout license to Bethesda, which might be why they haven't officially announced it as Fallout yet (or maybe Bethesda is somehow blocking it), as they might want to keep it unknown until April and then when it's finally certain either announce it or rebrand it as a new setting.

Chris and Jason cannot of course officially confirm it, since they're under NDA, but it's pretty clear that unless Bethesda pulls the license from them, it is and will be developed as a Fallout MMORPG. The Vault - Fallout Wiki * Fallout Online * Fallout IRC Channel * Fallout: New Vegas

How so?

For the record, I think I've always referred to it as V13. However, unless gamesas are working on two MMORPGs at once I think it highly unlikely that V13 will not be the Fallout MMORPG.

Besides, what does it matter? It's not like they can tell us off for guessing, right?

.... Right? A massive thank you to EA for:
- Producing great quality games time and time again
- Providing excellent technical support
- Never destroying any highly acclaimed studios for profit
- Never ripping people off
- Never wasting people's time
