Vaermina's Daedric Servants

Post » Thu Jan 20, 2011 11:46 am

Does anyone know what daedra are associated with Vaermina? Like how the dremora are Mehrune Dagon's servants, and the dark seducers and golden saints are Sheogoraths servants.

Nothing at the moment, but I bet they're most likely some formless shapeshifter that turns into a creature a person fears.

Vampirism is also likely a product of her, instead of Molag Bal, as indicated with Molag having to get the cure from her, and Molag's cultists saying he did not create it.

I would imagine her servants take the form of whatever terrifies the mortal mind the most, and that would differ from person to person.

As I recall, in Morrowind it's mentioned that some believed the Emperor's sons to be some sort of doppleganger Daedra. Nothing actually linking it to Vaermina, but it does suggest the existence of shapeshifting Daedra.

So, what you all are saying is that Vaermina's daedric servants are Boggarts?

Bloody 'ell.

Oddly enough I'm listening to The Order of the Phoenix audiobook right now. I thought the same thing. :icecream:

That would explain why we have not encountered that particular type of daedra in game. Actually I'm going to say we have encountered them. 70% of the Cliffracer population was actually shapeshifting daedra.

I think that has more to do with the fact that Jagar Tharn and his lieutenants were powerful Masters of Illusion.

We've known since forever that Daedra can shapeshift, hence all that "they can appear however they want but only choose male or female forms" and "Morrowind's Dremora only mold themselves to look like their wearing Daedric Armor" business we had eighty years ago when we were still figuring out the groundworks for them.

While I've never doubted the power of the Daedra Princes to shape themselves as well as others, I've always figured that most lesser Daedra either need someone else to reshape them or must change their form by "dying" and being reborn.

Thanks for all your replies. I like the idea of some vampire shapeshifter being her servant (however cliche that sounds).

Her sphere is dreams and nightmares, so it includes the good dreams too. I'd say the Seducer from Daggerfall could fit that. She's a hot babe one minute, then freaky pain winged demon hot babe the next.

Although I'm not convinced that she would have shapeshifting servants. Her sphere is dreams and nightmares, she doesn't need to scare you when you're awake.

Perhaps she has a bunch of daedra that puts people to sleep, and Freddy Krugers them.

It's possible that Vaermina's Daedric servants aren't perfectly fitted to her sphere. Like Sheogorath's Daedric servants. At the same time, I wouldn't be surprised if her realm contained Hungers.

Well. There is a clan that can turn to mist. It's possible that there can be some that turn to bats or wolves like the good ol movies. I mean, some people in ES can turn into birds..

It seems to me that daedric servants are written by Bethesda to have nothing to do with the prince's sphere, or to make it vaguely relevant at best.
