I'm doing the Mage's Guild Questline and i've used the fire, frost, and damage magicka on the pillar. I messed up the first time using the scroll to fortify magicka and i've waited up to 10 days outside the dungeon, and it won't respawn in the chest. I don't have high enough restoration to make my own spell on target either. Is there anything else I can do?

Two points to make here that aren't spoilers:

First is to save before you do anything irreversible, like using up the only scroll you have. If you have a save from before, use it.

Second is that "on touch" spells are always lower-cost to make and cast than "on target" ones. The pillar doesn't care which one you use, just the effect, and the order.

Well, the pillar NEEDS to be reset for the scrolls to respawn. If you have any of it done, they won't respawn. I figured it out.
But yeah, this is like the first time in many where i could've used an old save when I wasn't thinking ahead.

Further to this... Most of those effects can be bought as novice-level spells. The exception is "Sever Magicka" (Damage Magicka), which is only available as a scroll, or as a single Apprentice-level Destruction spell from Sulinus Vassinus in Skingrad; that effect can't be used for custom spells either.

If you've waited just outside the dungeon to no avail, try leaving the area, as in going to a town elsewhere, waiting three days and then come back. This works for me.
