Q: Vailtys Ascadian Isles / MGE

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:40 am

I just recently installed Vailtys Ascadian Isles tree mod, and its running great with the exception of one problem. For some reason distant land is not displaying any leaves on the trees, but when i get into actual view distance they appear. I just tried re-creating distant land again, and it didn't help. My static minimum sizes are 150, 300, 600. If someone could help me out with my little problem i would appreciate it.

Had the same when I used to use that mod.

If you dig around on Planet Eldar Scrolls I believe there are a couple of further mods that setup the leaves so that they do work with MGE.

Apologies if that's vague but has been a long time since I played with the Ascadian Isles mod.

Good luck!
:)

I think it looks great with http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=25387, even if he did bite it off of Oblivion.

I'm surprised someone actually took the time to change the leaf texture. It always made the trees seem so out of the place.

Sadly, I have a similar issue with Vality's Bitter coast trees.

I suggest using nich's UV corrected tree meshes, with Morrowind's Tx_Leaves_02.dds for the leaf texture.

I cant seem to find a download anywhere for the UV corrected tree meshes, do you happen to have the link?

I assume this is for use with your bitter coast mod?

I don't have a link, it has probably been pruned from the forums by now. But I can upload it if it can't be found anywhere else.

The suggestion was for the Ascadian Isles trees, as I don't recommend using any of the billboarded tree meshes found in those mods. They were some of the first models/trees I made, all I did was add some billboard planes onto the vanilla trunks, and slapped on the nearest texture and included them in the mod. They were made before infinite view distance/mge was around so they were never really suited for that. For me they ended up being a fun experiment of trying to recreate Oblivion's speedtree effect, but ultimately nothing I would keep as a permanent tree replacer in my game.

Feel free to use them if you like them, they work okay besides the issue mentioned in the OP, I just personally think they look like crap, not even Oblivion got the billboard thing right which is probably why they're not using speedtree in TESV.

Yeah, i'm working with kind of a "borderline" PC right now. When i try using either on of Vurts AI mods i get just enough FPS to make it un-playable. When i use your trees i get no FPS hit at all, and IMO upgrades the atmosphere quite a bit. Ill keep searching for those meshes, thanks for the input.
