This is my first mod release, please let me know what you think.

VaiN's Rugs - By VaiN (ndg474 at nexus)

------------
Description:
------------

This is a modders resource which adds 78 new rugs for you to use how you like. The main purpose of this was for me to learn how to create normal maps. I wanted to add a couple of rugs to my player house, so I killed two birds with one stone.. err.. 78.. So I started work on this and, as usual, I got a bit carried away.

There are a couple of other mods that add rugs, so I took a slightly different approach and added some unique types as well. Hopefully there is something here to suit everyone's needs.

---------
Included:
---------

Large Rugs: 52
Oval Rugs: 20
Shag Rugs: 6

Nif file for each rug for your convenience.
Normal Maps for each rug.
Screenshot of each rug (to help find the one you want).

An .esp with a Test Area to view all of the rugs in-game.

-------------
Installation:
-------------
Extract the .zip file to any directory.
Copy the meshes and textures folder, and the .esp file to your Fallout3\Data\ folder and overwrite as needed.

If you have problems with textures not working make sure you have ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated.
You can get it here: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=944

-----------
How to Use:
-----------
The .esp file is included just for demo/testing purposes. There is no door to take you there, you must type "coc vainsrugs" in the console to get there. Make sure you save before you go there or at least know how to get back, because there is no exit. The doors merely take you from one end of the area to the other.

The easiest way if you don't want to include ALL of the rugs with your mod is just to make sure you have copied the textures and meshes to your Data directory. Then just edit any existing static object, rename it, and replace the model with the one you want to use. And don't forget to include the model and textures for it with your mod in the same directory structure.

To make it easier to find which rug is which I have included screenshots with the name of each rug.

Feel free to include these in your mods, just don't modify the original files and re-release them. And please give me credit.

If you would like, you can share some screens here as well. No varification needed.

-------------
Known Issues:
-------------
There may be some flickering if you have more than one rug too close together (for the oval and shag rugs). This is because they use the SmallRug01.nif as a base. Also, the test area may be laggy on some slower systems.

If you find any problems let me know and I will correct them as soon as possible.

-------------
Future Plans:
-------------
I would like to create different types of shag rugs as well as some unique rugs that wouldn't fall into any specific category. I would also like to create some custom designs with a 'darker' theme for those dungeon type homes. As of right now I need to get back to work on some other projects so there may not be any updates for a while. I do, however, have LOTS more resources so I could easily expand on what is here if you like. Just let me know if these aren't enough for you. :P

Very nice, and large resource. A good selection of rugs can improve any wasteland home! Nicely done.

I also checked out the source for the images. That is a HUGE resource. I think you should add the http://www.woodworkersauction.com/Rugs/traditional01.htm textures. They match the Fallout rugs quite closely.

I like!!!!!!!!!!

I like a whole lot!!!!

..... is your next mod going to be curtains by any chance?

... This may sound strange coming from the perspective of my Phalanx mod which is focused on followers. But, I needed curtains and rugs for the interiors of THREE of Phalanx' new areas. Needed as in like... had to use that blue Megaton curtain over, and over, and over again, and getting to pick from like, ONE RUG.

When I get time, this one will positively get snaught up and put into Phalanx. And if you make a curtains one, that will too.

The only available curtain-like thing is the blue megaton one. I mean... ya no ... not even a plain white one.. or one that DOESN"T look like it's been used as toilet paper for 3 consecutive years... yeah.

Cambragol, thanks for the comment. As far as the traditional style I was actually avoiding them for the most part as I was tired of the style from the vanilla ones, but I could do an add-on with some later on.

Thanks, glad you like the rugs. And also thanks for the suggestion. I am looking into the curtain situation now, as it is definitely lacking. If I do release some I'll let you know. :foodndrink:

Edit: Also as a heads up, I uploaded a hotfix for one of the rugs, and added a couple to the test area I forgot about.

I finally have this on my hard drive now - - am working on something for Drakortha (DC Cronicles dude)

This was more than I expected - - like, some of these carpets would double as tapestries.

Cool job!

It is possible thata few of your rugs will be in the next episode of DC Cronicles ( http://www.youtube.com/drakortha ). I never know exactly what Sizzarome will do with what I send him, but I'm sending him a largeish, vault-related interior area which has several of your rugs in it.
