I've read that Valdimar is a Mage class type character, yet when i met him he was wearing the typical Nord Scaled Armor and using a Mace. I was expecting the whole Robe attire and no weapons, but with his standard unremoveable armor, he'll never be able to wear robes. So i was wondering, is Valdimar a strict mage class that has no skill in armor, or is he some hybrid class being that he swings a weapon and also uses spells? Im curious being that i want to outfit him correctly

Your expectations were wrong, because Nords are known for hating magic, even those who don't support the Stormcloaks.

Valdimar uses a wicked Ice Spike/Spear spell in defense of my Windstad Manor, but he's proficient in Light Armor, and uses weapons well also.

Example;

I had a group of three Bandits raid my property, and Valdimar and my wife Jenassa were outside with me. Valdimar shot out Ice Spikes as he closed the distance to our enemies, then he drew the Daedric Greatsword that I had given him and just butchered two of the three Bandits before I could cover the distance. Jenassa and I tag teamed the last bandit, that is until and Ice Spike grows from the last Bandit's forehead and he rockets 20 feet down-slope...

So I think he's probably a standard Nord Warrior type, but mixes in some magic to give him an edge.

I'm just guessing that he's a Spellsword, much like the Nord mercenary in Solitude, Belrand.

His main offense is an ice spike spell but he will use his beat stick if necessary. He's a hybrid class IMO.

I'd agree with this. Valdimar fits the role nicely now that I compare him against the Spellsword Class.
