[Relz] Valenwood Improved

Post » Sun Apr 24, 2011 11:53 pm

Game: TES IV - Oblivion
Version: 1.01.0
Category: New Lands
Author: Eldarie
Language: German
File size: 205 MB
Contributors: doritis

Improved Valenwood adds the province Valenwood to the game. This includes eight cities and some smaller towns, many new Ayleid ruin, caves and fortress ruins.

The mod is a landscape modification, by which I mean to say that not all interiors are finished. As far as my time frame allowing it they will be added later on in updates.

# # Modded according to the codex of the German Elder Scrolls - Community # #

  • A new province
  • Beautiful Landscapes
  • 8 new cities
  • New Villages
  • New Ayleid ruin and fortress ruins
  • New caves and mines
  • Many new NPCs
  • 12 mini-quests
  • New armor and creatures

Note that version 2.0 of http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1158730-relz-dynamic-map/ contains a map component for Valenwood Improved, if you choose the Terrain Map style. You can see the northern part of it in http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/images/35969-1-1295787777.jpg.

I am looking forward to play this landmass, just next to Elsweyr too :)

If I understand correctly, even with this update, there are no major quests, and not all interiors are finished. Correct?

I know there are some variants of HGEC, but am I correct to assume that running EVE HGEC would fulfill the "HGEC Bodyreplacer" requirement?

Thanks for the great work, am sure many will enjoy it! :celebration:

A question: German version 1020 is 214 MB and the English translation is 22 MB. Does it mean I have to overwrite the German files/folders with those from the English translation? Will this give me complete English version?

Thanks!

Any hope for a BAB user (instead of HGEC)? What be the impact of trying to install/use this mod without HGEC?

Clipping and irritating small discrepancies in clothing. Funny skin colour after taking off armor.
I know because I play HGEC and sometimes am tempted to try some of the cool BAB armors. :D

The translation is just the esp - everything else is fine.

Dang! Valenwood suffers a terrible gene pool. Some of the ugliest NPCs I've ever seen. Other than that, a great mod!

How much will VI conflict with FCOM and its satelite mods?
How well will VI blend with a FCOM game? will I see significant issues?

Thanks.

Any reviews out on Valenwood yet? I usually wait for the praise or criticism before downloading large mods.

Does it feel like Valenwood? How many unique resources are present? Is the landscaping interesting? What are the best things about the mod?

Thanks.

After a quick visit to Valenwood I can say it looks beautiful. Only "problem" is that almost none of the interiors are finished, but its a hell of a start for a province mod anyway. I had no issues with Elsweyr yet. The villages seem to use resources from SI villages, which fit Valenwood pretty perfectly. The town are bit bland and sterile, since there is no clutter around. I'm using WAC with this and the creatures fit nicely into Valenwood. The english translations is still a bit Betaish, fe. I encountered an enemy that wore "bad bosmer armor". But I bet these are thing that will change and improve during the future updates, so this is definitely a mod worth of downloading if you like to explore like me. One thing I recommend is to clean this with TES4EDIT since I found a quite a lot of identical references to Oblivion.esm. Same goes for the Elsweyr.esp that comes with the Valenwood download.

I just downloaded the 1.02 English version and took a look at it. Some of the entries that were translated before have reverted to German for some reason. Are you guys doing the translation now, or is Samadchaz still doing it? I ask because I want to help, and it would be good to know who to contact.

After fixing the translations in 1.02 myself, I explored some of Valenwood. It is, in a word, beautiful. The scenery is gorgeous, the cities are well-designed (if a bit devoid of life :P), and the people are not at all ugly. I just found a couple minor issues in Falinesti:

In the cathedral (which is really cool, BTW), there's a floating pew;

The graveyard should probably be grass, not cobbles - it'd be a little hard to dig graves through cobblestone, don't you think?

One of Uungor's boxes isn't owned (I only noted this because all the others are), and there's a silver nugget (unowned) in the street near his booth.
