Valton: The New Hold OOC and Sign-up thread

That might be an idea, though I doubt I'll be able to get a post in tonight now. It's quite late, and got stuff to do.

Erasmos ... not many redguards have orange, cat-like eyes as far as I know! :P

I'll fix that somehow, I might have to approach a kind witch to do so though. Which would mean revealing why Allard wants his eyes to change so desperately or he can just say he was half redguard, half elf which made him end up with a genetic defect in his eyes.. Which is an obvious lie to anyone who knows that children always take after their mothers. Plus I completely forgot about money so I guess Allard will have to sleep on the streets somewhere.

Except it's also observed that while children take after their mother, traits of their father also come into play - A human-fathered Orc has a greyish skin instead of Green, for instance, because of a clash in skin pigment. Weird eyes and other facial features are also common.

Well you did fool one nord with puffy sideburns!
Yeah, but from what I undertsand, mixed race childern take the mother's race, but sometimes a few traits from the father. Of course, with Bretons, that was thousands, if not millions of years of race inter-breeding going on.
And Quentillius, as for you being trapped in a conversation with the jarl, what if that was planned? CONSPIRACY!

Allard is a purebred Altmer, he was just born with an odd pigmentation in his skin. Also, I didn't know about traits of the father being passed on, glad to see it makes his story even more credible.

Oops, sorry, seems Allard's story was so plausible even I fell for it. I guessed from his name he probably wasn't pure-blood too, it sounds more like a mannish name than a merish one. I'll edit the halfbreed bit out of my post.

EDIT: Oh, and if Lizard Wizard doesn't appear with a Jarl post before tomorrow morning, I'll take control of the Jarl for one post to save our poor Thalmor from the horrors of the time-vortex.

You mentioned that Allard says it is because he is close to his Ayleid roots? Varlamo will probably out of curiousity attempt to at least speak to him in Ayleid, see if he can flush out either a well taught education (as Aldmer is rather similar to Ayleid), or even flush out something more. Varlamo would also still consider Allard to be revolting breed of Altmer, suitable for extermination back in the Summerset Isles, but he's rather fussy when it comes to these things. Roleplaying a Nazi isn't exactly the nicest thing in the world, but it's fun at times. :P

Ahhahaa! :D

I sort of wanted to do a few more things before the evening but never mind. I need to see the Blacksmith before the evening though, that is necessary.

So thats why the "Timescale" in Skyrim is so fast! For every second that passes, Alduin eats twenty-nine more!

Anyway... I think my character's ready for evening... Evening officially begins when the still-naked khajiit walks into the inn, right?

Hey, I am for one am glad that Alduin has decided to eat some of our time. A evening jump would be enjoyable. I can't wait for our Hapless fish lipped Nord to see his favorite Justicar Buddy....

Adluin doesn't only eat time - it seems the character sheets were on the menu too - they stand empty. Which probably mixed with the load of incoming post to make almost nobody noticed a gentleman in what might be the entire hold's finest clothes sitting in the inn's corner.

Alright we are slowly going for evening. Anyone who wishes to get the days business over before evening needs to do so, be it with my smith or anyone else somewhere else. If I've understood it right, there's still three guys who want to talk to the smith before evening? Time-wise, Undead Fiends character should be first to speak. My Orc is just hammering iron and leather at his forge, so go ahead and post what needs to be posted

Even though Undead Fiend doesn't post before the others, time-wisely looked he will have disappeared before the others arrive to talk to him. If he still had something to say about the dagger.

They also tend to underreact to a Khajiit wearing nothing more than her birthday suit as well :P

Nuramon hasn't seen them yet :P ah yes, he saw the nvde khajiit but he was to busy watching everyone argue and planned to attack the thalmor as soon as weapons would be drawn so I think it is alright that he didn't pay much attention to her.

can I assume it's evening or are there still people that need to finish some things ?

I apologize everyone. I've been unexpectedly busy in real life lately, so I haven't had all that much time on my hands. I did just put up a CS for the Jarl in the intro, which I'll also put here.

Spoiler
Name: Radwulf Spurvhauke
Age: 49
Race: Nord
Gender: Male
Height: 6’0”
Birthsign: The Warrior
Appearance: He is fair skinned though dark circles have developed beneath his eyes, and he he appears to have a leathery toughness to his skin as well from his time spent in both the legion, and enduring the docks and ships of Anvil. He has green eyes, and dark brown, wavy hair that reaches down to his shoulders. He is of a strong build, and has very wide shoulders.
Class (what would you describe your character as?): Jarl, Knight
Skills and known spells (if any): He is an excellent fighter when using both a sword and a shield, and he is also capable of using most other weapons, but to less effect.
Clothing / armor: He wears an orange cloak with a white fur collar over black finery, as well as steel plate boots, and steel bracers.
Weapons: A silver short sword, more for decoration than anything.
Miscellaneous items: N/A
Personality: He was once a shrewd, selfish man who cared only for himself and his family, but since his wife’s death, his personality has softened considerably. When the one thing in the world that mattered to him more than anything was gone, he no longer cared so much for worldly possessions, as he finally realized how little they meant to him. This isn’t to say he won’t surround himself by luxury, but that he takes little pleasure from it, and is far more generous than he was. He often appears melancholy.
Major flaw: He hasn’t been himself ever since his wife passed away. While this doesn’t tend to visibly affect him, he tends not to pay attention to people when he drifts down memory lane, as he has become prone to do.
Background: He grew up in Anvil where his family had lived for several generations, and spent much time learning of business practice from his father. When he came of age, he joined the legion for a time, though he had never seen anything more than a few minor skirmishes. During his time in the legion, he was posted in Skyrim, where he had met his future wife, Allendra, and he began courting her. When he finally left the legion, he returned to Skyrim to marry, and afterwards he and his wife moved to Anvil to take over the Spurvhauke family business.

In Anvil his family owned a shipping company that had been in business for well over a hundred years, and had made his family rich. Radwulf took to the business well, as his father had taught him to when he was younger, and he soon proved to be a shrewd businessman. His family had always been wealthy, but with Radwulf leading the shipping company, they soon gained riches to rival nobility. Radwulf, his wife, and son lived well like this, and they would have remained in Anvil if not for the day Radwulf’s wife, Allendra, grew ill.

They had healers come to tend to her, but she grew worse despite their efforts, and within a few days she was dead. Her dying wish was to be buried where she was born, which meant the Rift in Skyrim, and so Lliro and Radwulf traveled by boat around the continent arriving in the Solitude harbor. From there the duo took the coffin and their possessions to the Rift by wagon, and eventually they found a nice spot to bury her. Radwulf decided he didn’t want to return to Anvil, as he couldn’t bear to leave his wife behind, so he arranged for his shipping company to be sold, and he used his wealth to purchase as much land as he could in the Rift.

And so after much work, Valton was built, and became a new hold.

I know part of his background is cut and paste from his son (because they share that last bit). I'm back though, and I'll start getting up posts as quickly as I can, but expect a slight delay, as I have a quick errand to run. Shouldn't take more than an hour or so, but I'll hopefully be on for much of this afternoon and night.

Are we still waiting for the others to finish their business with the smith, or are we moving to evening? I'd say give them another day to finish their business, without anyone else moving in time.

I liked it very much. I'll get a post up soon.

also now I think of it, it kind of reminds of Gandalf :P riding his cart while smoking a pipe. I know Gandalf isn't the only one who does that but still I had to think of the old wizard. I guess I shouldn't answer by saying: "You're late."
