Valton: The New Hold, OOC & Sign-Up Thread #XII

I did a quick drawing of Sarynetta
http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/8384/sarya1copy.png
I always imagined her looking kinda like Eva Longoria ^^

Oooh, nice!

I decided to do a drawing of Varyn as well. I'm new to digital art. I'm more used to working with tangible mediums, mostly charcoal and graphite, but I decided to give it a shot. Still only about 40% of the way through so it's still a major WIP. http://i.imgur.com/QsZix.png

Awesome picture, mate. Though its WIP nature does make it look a bit like Varyn has covered his chin and head in shaving foam. Can't wait to see the finished product :P

Haha yeah, I put the base color for the hair in there so I could work over it on the edges while I'm finishing up his face.

http://i.imgur.com/QDrM1.png I'm really happy with how the eye turned out.

I notice you are just working on one layer. It is pretty normal to do base colour and things like that on a different layer to shading, so you can edit them both independently. That said the picture is coming out fantastic, so your techniques are obviously working out really well for you.

Never thought about that :P

Like I said, I'm new to this haha.

I have a few detailed stuff on the background, but it's barely visible in that screenshot. The background is an outline of all the lines, and the first layer is the color. I can change the shade of the image by adjusting how much the background shows through the color layer.

Aah, okay. Basically it is normal to keep doing that with plenty of extra layers, layers upon layers (and then more layers). You can always merge them together again when you are done.

I plan on adding two more layers when I do the hair, one for shading and one for the texture (which I'm still trying to figure out how to do right).

Did I mentioned I also drew Alguidar? :P

Man, I wish I had that gene. All awesome drawings.

The only problem, Ayumi, both look hot. You're lucky Alguidar is thinking about Roymund...

To be honest, I traced the jawline and noses from real photos and altered them a little bit so it isn't 100% my own work. Sarya was based on Eva Longoria and Jackie has Jessica Alba's round face.

Went to sleep the other day... Woke up and saw the OOC thread had boomed to page three. Thought something epic was being planned.

Not so much

Ahem: I think we can now move to "night-time". Afaik, someone's supposed to have a dream or something during the night-time. And well, those who have their characters stuck somewhere could just finish what they are doing as soon as possible and go to sleep.

Edit: I don't know what Stoic Guardian has planned for event for his character, but a possibility might be that jack and some others go to riften to sell stuff and happen to meet him there. But that's just an idea, I'm not saying you should do it. Definitely stick to what you've planned something :)

Holy crap I just had the most badass daydream at work. A dragon attacked Valton and the whole town worked together to kill it while Awesome epic music was playing in my head. All the mages in town were just blasting the crap out of it, even Varyn had finally managed to do what he intended when the moment came. It was either Roymund or Theseus who had the final blow. And of course Itan-Ru thought he saw Sae-Kas* die, and snapped and went from nice guy to practically a super saiyan. Most badass daydream ever.

*: Sae-Kas is the character I'm debating bringing in. He's Itan-Ru's older brother who, instead of joining the chapel, became a smuggler with close ties to the Thieves Guild, even being on a first name basis with some of them. Would it be alright If I do bring him in? (after posting a sheet of course.)

PS: If I daydream while working nightshift, is it technically just a dream? /philosoraptor

I'd prefer if we didn't have a dragon attack Valton... Since there's no dragonborn to fus ro dah and absorb its soul. But over-all, that's just a bit too big for Valton.

As for bringing in Itan-Ru's brother, why not. I do have a question though: If the brother began working with Athell's thieves, and Itan-Ru knows his brother is a thief, and Itan-Ru also knows his brother is in town... Wouldn't he instantly see the connection and know his brother was the guilty one?

The dragon thing was just a daydream, I didn't want it to actually happen, badass as it could be. And Itan-Ru isn't fully aware of what his brother's been up to. remember, he's been in a chapel since shortly after his naming day, around the time Sae-Kas got mixed up with the guild. It's pretty easy to hide things from a younger brother who doesn't want to see anything bad in you. And Sae-Kas purposely kept Itan-Ru out of any info to prevent him getting involved. I can explain all that away in his sheet with all-purpose plot convenience gel.

PS: that picture made my day(night?)

I'm in the process of catching up with all the events of the whole last thread. I'd only skimmed through some of the subplots before. I bloody love this RP, it is like a cheesy Elder Scrolls soap opera set in a sleepy little town in Skyrim.

Itan-Ru's brother :P

Spoiler

Name: Sae-Kas

Age: 28

Race: Argonian

Gender: Male

Height: 6' 3"

Birthsign: The Tower

Appearance: Similar to Itan-Ru, another Argonian would have no trouble in seeing that they are brothers, though men and mer might have difficulty. He has the same Acid-green eyes and dark blue scales, though the stripes and spots on his body are a dark red and dark purple. Like his brother, he has a row of spikes in a mohawk pattern on top of his head, though his spikes are a little longer than his brother's. He has a medium build, and is stronger physically than Itan-Ru.

Class: Smuggler
Skills and known spells:
Sneaking
Speech
Illusion(Expert Level: knows Invisibility, though his time invisible rarely lasts more than ten seconds; charm, rage, muffle)
One-Handed (focuses on shorter blades, such as daggers and shortswords)
Light Armor
Lockpicking

Clothing/ Armor: Wears dark leather armor, almost black when traveling or otherwise prepared for a fight. Wears simple clothing otherwise, never having been one for finery.

Weapons: carries a pair of curved steel daggers, with slight serration on one side of the blades. He is agile enough to use them both for stealth and open combat. Also wears a special glove on his right hand with a secret blade that extends when magicka is run through it.

Miscellaneous: carries a pouch of coin, and not much else

Personality: In contrast to his brother's nervous, twitchy energy, Sae-Kas is usually calm and collected, though is not above becoming enraged at incompetence. He is heavily sarcastic, and is fully aware of how infuriating it can be to others. When he chooses to, he can be quite charming, and is rather good at making deals which many would otherwise cringe at.

Major flaw: has a soft-spot for his brother, and would put himself in harm's way to prevent harm from coming to him. Aside from this, he is also arrogant and overconfident, and has gotten in over his head many times, only surviving through extreme luck.

Background: Born in Riften five years before his brother, Sae-Kas actually remembers his mother, who died due to illness when Itan-Ru was too young to remember her. Sae-Kas then took it upon himself to care for his younger brother on the streets of Riften. Forced to steal by the need to provide for his brother, he was quickly found by the Thieves Guild, becoming a runner for the Guild in exchange for coin, food, and other necessary supplies. After Itan-Ru's naming day, which took place in a similar manner to his own, the argonian dock workers providing the needed hist sap, when his younger brother had joined the priesthood, Sae-Kas began to take a more active role in the guild, his brother's wellfare now secured. He found that he enjoyed the lifestyle of the thieves.

Like his brother, he found he had a natural talent for magic, though instead of healing, he turned his abilities towards deceiving others with Illusion magic. eventually, he left the guild (On good terms) to form a small smuggling outfit known in criminal circles as the Red Scales, which does a good deal of its business with the guild, as Sae-Kas still has contacts among their ranks. He was last seen doing business in Markarth, though some recent news may just convince him to leave...

You know this probably sounds insane (as most of most of my ideas do..) BUT! how about a gremlin assistant (servant?) for Gorbad?
Yes there are gremlins in TES and yes they are somewhat civilised, as they helped built the initial village structure of orc-town, Orsinium.

This character would mostly be for comic relief in the RP. Pure comic relief. He'd get up to nonesense and go about annoying Gorbad.

What would his backstory be? I was thinking him being a prior slave (like some goblins are) to a thalmor inquisitor, fetching stuff for her.
But one day he fell into a temporary portal to the daedric realm of Coldharbour and after months of mischief, ended up flying out of Valton's local well.
He would shoot like a meteor into the air, before finally crashing down Gorbad's house's chimney- becoming unconscious in an instant.

I would think Gorbad could take care of the little monster for a while (like most orcs would do of their goblin ken). And in time, he'd recover.
The little hobbe looking creature should then swear to serve the orc in life and in death, untill his debt of his own life is paid off to the smithy.

So how about it? a bit too mad? villagers going to burn him by the stake? sell him off to Jacqueline as a six slave? make pork lunch out of him?
Could he pass off as a strange son or brother of Gorbad? an orc midget who's just a plain idiot? a weird civilised goblin who won't eat your feet?
