Valton: The New Hold, OOC & Sign-Up Thread #XIII

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 7:58 pm

This is the latest layout: http://i1050.photobucket.com/albums/s405/Smigh/ValtonMain20120416_02_edited_exported.jpg

It can be one of those spots of it could be something new, maybe on the other side of the road. In the game, it's usually separated from the main buildings.

EDIT:

Oh yeah. I'd give him more compliments but I don't want them to get to his head.

Just keep working Gorbad!

The only spot I can see in the NW is the spot I circled in red. Well not sure how to add a pic here but it is to the nw by the bridge to the left side.

http://tinypic.com/ is good to upload pics without having to create accounts and whatnot.

I was imagining the stables on the eastern side of Valton, clearly visible from the entrance. Having two main entrances doesn't help (slight oversight :P) but I always imagined the eastern one to be the most important since it connects directly with Riften, which is the capital of the Rift and probably the origin of most visitors.

Here is the pic.

It doesn't matter to me where they are. It was mentioned that there is a current stable though. I would rather take that one over rather than build a new one. Just don't see it on the map

I think what Vincent meant is that they already exist in the RP but its specific location isn't defined yet.

Your highlight is over a dirt path that connects the bridge with the road. It could still be on that side, the layout doesn't show more to the left but I'm sure there's plenty of room (I can't confirm right now).

I'll figure it out in a little bit. Right now I have a dead horse and one hobbled in the middle of the street, but having this layout will help me in the future. Wher eis the Inn?

When Sae-Kas arrives in Valton (planning just before nightfall) I wonder who would be customers with him. I imagine he would be able to do dealings with our two resident kitty cats, and perhaps Nuramon since he does seem to hit the skooma( I think it was Nuramon). Can anyone else think of people who would use a smugglers services? keep in mind he doesn't just move drugs, he could move just about anything for the right price

nope sorry, Nuramon does not do Skooma :) but if you can get your hands on stuff like daedra hearts, daedra skin, human hearts, human skin (and meat although he'll hunt for that himself. :P ), and other ingredients people might not be fond off :)

oopsd. I could have sworn that someone mentioned skooma or moon sugar one or two threads ago. Though I do like the unsavory alchemy ingredients idea.

I imagine Jormaw will ask Sae-Kas to distribute a monthly fish supply to contacts in the dock of Riften which will then distribute them further.

So he'll probably have quite a bit of contact with Jormaw, if they can work out a deal.

Name: Daugon (lit. "soldier commander") (Dow-gone)
Age: 62
Race: Altmer
Gender: Male
Height: 6'1
Birthsign: The Mage
Appearance: A very tall and slender Altmer with short slicked back Golden Blonde hair. His eyes are all white, caused by his vampirism. His skin is pale, even more so now with his sickness.
Class: Mage
Skills and Known Spells: Versed in all schools of Magic. He can utilize them at his disposal.
Clothing/Armor: .He wears mult Mage robes and hoods. No other armor
Weapons: He carries only a Steel Dagger but only uses it in desperation. he relies only on his Magic
Misc Items: He carries vials of human blood he has imported from Summerset Isles since he wishes not to feed off of actual humans and hates the taste of animal blood.
Personality: Strong, vibrant and a leader once, now stricken with this curse, tends to stay to himself and distant.
Major Flaw: Vampirism
Background: Daugon was raised in a military family but rebelled against joining the Altmer Army. To much of his father's dismay, Daugon left Summerset Isle at an early age to attend the College of Winterhold in Skyrim. He was learning quite fast under the tutelage of the Arch-Mage until that dreadful night.

It was the winter of the 197th year of the 4th era. Daugon was searching for a particularly rare ingredient in a small cave when out of nowhere a vampire attacked him and sunk his fangs into his neck. Daugon was able to flee before the vampire could finish him off. Daugon ran toward the entrance of the cave but tripped and fell down an old mineshaft and fell unconscious. He awoke hours later to darkness and no sense of where he was or how far he had fallen. With no spell to cure disease in his repertoire, he needed to reach the Arch Mage in time to stop the onset of vampirism. He would spend the next 7 days in that cave and by the time he emerged, he was at stage 4 vampirism and almost dead from the hunger. The poor courier who was wandering by the cave’s entrance that night stood no chance as Daugon drained every ounce of life from the Nord's body. Feeling better Daugon returned to College.

It was almost daybreak by the time he reached the college. He entered the Arch-Mage's quarters and explained what had happened. Two days of test potions and magic trials ended with no cure of the disease. It had already taken full hold of Daugon and there was nothing that the Arch Mage could do to help him. He mentioned a new hold named Valton , by Riften and perhaps he could find some help there. Daugon was distraught with the thought of having to feed on humans for survival. He detested what he had done to that courier and expressed this to the Arch mage. The Arch Mage mentioned a man that comes to the College every month and delivers special ingredients. He could reach out to him and have him bring up some vials of human blood, enough to last him awhile so that Daugon can survive without having to feed. It just so happened that the Arch Mage had some vials in his possession and gave them to Daugon.

Daugon left the next night en route to Valton. He was warned by the Arch mage to keep his disease a secret to most he would meet. You never know how people will react to a vampire in their midst. They will not understand his way of life , even if he tried to explain he does not feed on humans. Daugon, once again was on the road looking to start a new life that may lead him to be able to continue his old life back at the college.

Would come to Valton seeking employment at night to hide his vampirism. Something obscure. He would be a loner of types just doing his job as he searches for a cure.

Just for future reference, any problems you have, or anything you want confirmed by the GMs it is always best to post in here. This is what the thread is for, and why we have 2 GMs. Just PMing one negates the advantage we gain by having two people in charge of admin here. Only exception to this rule is if the question involves a particular character or something just under one of mine or Gorbad's jurisdiction, for instance to do with the Blacksmith for Gorbad, or the Jarl or the Vampire/Fiona plotilne for me.

Speaking of which, for reasons connected to that I can't accept that character right now. Unfortunately I can't tell you exactly why, which svcks because I think it is a very cool character sheet. For now I recommend just enjoying the one character and try to develop him as much as you can. Sorry if that seems a bit harsh. If you want to know more, you can send me a PM and we can discuss this a little further, but I'm not likely to budge on this, sorry.

No worries. I only sent Gorbad it in a pm because knew it was a tough fit for Valton. I understand though.

Seems the thread exploded when I was out shooting my buddies with megazone lasers. Then we ate some terrible pizza. I must say I enjoyed my 18th birthday more than this.. Although it was practically the same: Megazone --> eat.

Gorbad when you make the next guard post, could you possibly write in about the other guard taking Khagra to Itan-Ru?

I'll be character controlling old Khagra for awhile and want to make sure that he stays around for the plot that'll play out.
I was sort of hoping for glass argonian to take control of the situation. The whole "running off to find the priest" would in RP-time be one or two minutes... Not two days like it has been in real-life :D

@Vincent: not to worry, I'll post those semi-important conversation posts with the jarl when needed: Currently there's both Sarya and that Khajiit fella to talk to. (haven't read the RP-thread yet, you might've tackled one or both of these already). (I'll post something with the jarl in about 16 hours, plenty of time to see if you'll post something first).

I again pointed out in my PM reply that he should ask you about the 2nd character, but I also pointed out that there's not much activity on the night.. Meaning it'd be a pretty boring character to play with. (in addition, being a loner is generally a bad thing in interactive RP's).

Looks like that's it for the OOC talk. If I missed something, be sure to scream "Gorbad you ****, answer my question you ****!!".

The Jarl hasn't spoken to any of his two visitors yet.

Am I the only one that thinks Itan-Ru should just change his profession to veterinarian? ;P

The northern bridge of Valton, with a guard nearby on the look-out for wolves. (which he missed, because they were sneaky and attacked the horses from another direction)

Hmm, I guess I'll have to make a guard reply to Urgoc though. My original thought was that Daroska wouldn't post so much, but instead have Urgoc sit wounded on the bridge while he waited for the priest.. There goes that plan :D
