Valton: The New Hold, Sign-Up and OOC Thread IV

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 12:03 pm

I can't wait to see the characters. Maybe have some quests in it if possible. (for example. Maybe Danus Maximus might want you to do a little errand, or nellis might want you to clear out a mine)

I have a feeling clearing out the mine would be part of the main quest.

Is he going to record it...?

Terribly sorry to everyone for being so slow with these posts. RL has really had me snowed under of late. Barely had a minute to contemplate what to do next. I'll get a reply up today.

Oh, you have a life. That's where you went wrong

About the mod, right now I just have the outer walls and the outside of most buildings. There's no one there yet except Jal and he isn't saying much. I need to work on path-finding, guards and their logic, the interior of buildings, other characters, their schedules and make them provide basic services where applicable. After that, having quests or at least some interesting dialogs, would be nice. You could even contribute with the dialogs for your own character.

Pssst, Valton doesn't have a surrounding wall. Though I guess now it does? Are you putting the town in a separate cell? If you like I can draw you a map of Valton, as it has been lazily imagined by the GMs.

Sure! Send it over. I'm putting it in the game world so I can take the walls out.

I'll get a rough sketch up to provide inspiration next time I have some free creative juices. Some things to consider: Valton is based around one main street, which ends in Gudslott Hall, which the same same type of hall as in Morthal, except it has a round mage's tower attached to the side. There is also an inn, opposite which is a blacksmiths, and two shops. We also have a small chapel, and some sort of barracks (probably beside Gudlsott Hall) with a training ground, which has a hotspring, there is also a different hotspring somewhere else. Outside of these major buildings there are smaller houses, some of which are very small and contain random NPC peasants, these houses being at the very extreme of the town.

Actually, if you go off that, you can't go wrong.

That saves me a lot of reading, I was just going off a few hints here and there. I might not be able to get some of the details regarding architecture though, it depends on whether I can find assets close to those in the kit. I couldn't model or texture to save my life.

I've always imagined valton to be very open. Meaning, even though the inn and the smithy is opposite to eachother, it's still some distance away. (like half a rock-throw or something)

If you need a hand, I'm a bit of a wiz at the construction set. I've been meaning to make Valton for ages but I literally don't have the time anymore. I can construct Fiona's tower at least :D

Yeah, I see the main road as being very wide, more like a yard almost.

Well, I'm not, so, by all means :)

I did some minor things with the GECK and I've just started putting Valton on the map to learn about the CK, but I ended up realizing that I could finish the job. I'll use the closest buildings I can find as placeholders so if you ever get the time, we can just replace them.

Belated Jarl post up. Scamp post sometime tonight, I need to go buy bacon. Sorry for being so slow with all this, I had horrible writers block for that post, managed to bash it in the head by writing something only tangentally connected to the RP. I hope you guys will forgive some background history for our melancholy Jarl :)

Also, new Co-GM to be announced.

STAY TUNED FOLKS

If you like I can draw you a map of Valton

If you wouldnt mind, I'd love to see that too. Gives us a headsup of where things are in relation to each other and city limits.

Alrighty then, time to confirm, we have a new Co-Gm in the house: Gorbad!

I'm not stepping aside or anything, only this RP is a little too much work for just the one GM and I'm impossibly busy of late, and Gorbad has generously accepted to take on the role of GM. Any complaints or queries you have about the RP can now go to Gorbad (or still me), and any issues or character sheets to be accepted our Orkish friend also has the authority to deal with. Gorbad's will IS NOW LAW.

I'll be back to full posting capacity in a week or two, fingers crossed. I'm not going anywhere, just accepting the fact I can't give Valton as much time as it needs right now. Anyway, all hail our glorious new Co-GM, GorbadPS3!

Yay me. I'll try not to screw things up (too badly)

Currently trying to get the character-sheet to work properly and containing the newest char-sheets as well.

Alright, since quoting in PM apparently doesn't work, I posted the full character sheet here instead. There you go Vincent

Also, more jobs are taken than you've crossed over. New list here:

In this RP you will enter the Hold as a settler, or looking for work. Your character can take up any job in the new hold you can think of, here are some examples (crossed out jobs being taken) : alchemist, barkeep, blacksmith, carpenter, court wizard, farmer, fisherman, guard (as well as Captain of the Guard), hunter, mason, mercenary, miner, shopkeeper, woodcutter, etc. Note that there are NPCs in the Hold as well, including the Jarl, random guards and a messenger service.

I'm going to make a second character. I am planning on having him be in charge of a bandit group causing trouble to Valton. Do you approve Gorbad?

Are you sure about this? It's going to be hard to RP a bandit leader, remember that you are expected to die and the trouble you cause can't be just anything. Feel free to PM me the specifics you've thought about and post the full bandit groups char-sheets here, not just the leader's sheet.
